hey guys my mate just stroked hes vp and just got the computer programed and its only making 164rwkw, when he got same parts as mine and im in the 200rwkw, any ideas. (so i take it he will blow it to now lol,) what would 164 be a fly wheel as auto is ll rebuilt..

cam timing tuner dyno correction factors diff gears auto stall tyre size. Unless the cars are identical they may never make the same power. Even different stroker kits.

he got 3.9s and dynoed at same place as mine, still think he should get more then 164kw tho dont yous think. if it true what can he do

so are your diff gears the same?? who's car feels faster on the street.

Is it stock with a stroker kit?

yeah same gears as mine. mine fells more torquey then hes. i dont understand what you mean stock with stroker kit. (two98) im new to the v8 its a 304 with a stroker crank and all the rest to it. he does have 3 angle grind does that give you any power or any thing..

I mean is the motor stock standard apart from the stroker crankshaft? You need a fair amount of work to the old holden to get it up to 200rwkw.

its been bored 30, got 9.8 comp pistons, heads been port polished, big cam, roller rockers double springs, thats all i know.. what can he do? how much is it the do the cam (BT) shouldnt the mancanic know if not right..???

what are the cam specs? and that compression is ****ful, no wonder its not making power Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

As said above, check the cam timing first! What intake manifold does it have? If it is a std bunch of bannana's manifold then that is why it makes no power. We did an engine for a mate recently that was similar, 355, decent cam, heads had a pocket port and was just a good budget motor. With the std manifold albeit a bigger TB it only made 182 and was falling over at 4500rpm. The std manifolds are no good for anything above that unless they have forced induction. Get rid of it for a twin TB setup or a COME or something similar and the thing will take off! yeah standed manifold with 70mm t/b the cam is around the DUR .050 DUR and around 500 lift i think.. 282, 295 234 244 and even so would more comp boost it up around 30 RWKW?

Well thats solid cam territory. Problem is 9.8 is too low for that cam. It would be more suited to something around 10.5:1 on PULP. Your manifold will be killing it, guaranteed and you would see major gains from a change to a better manifold. To give you an idea a mates motor, 355, 10.1:1, 286, VN heads with no port work, Torgue power dual plane and a 650cfm BG carb makes consistent 230rwkw with a T400 auto. Also what exhaust is on this VP?

so he should put more comp in it.. he got a twin 2 1/2

Its not exactly that simple to up the compression. He could shave the heads a little but you can then run into other issues with manifolds. And i dont think you would get enough out of them. Other options all involve the motor out of the car and back into pieces again. The exhaust should be fine, but the manifold is killing it. I would swap the manifold and why you have it off maybe swap the cam down to something a little smaller that will work much better with that compression.

i agree yet the easiest thing to do is change the manifold and see what gains you have made. then if its still pitiful change cam. i would normally tackle the easiest stuff first unless there was an obviuos problem.

That cam will get choked with the stock manifold but it should still be making atleast 180-190rwkw with the current combo IMO. What did the dyno guy say?

the dyno guy had no idea why only makin that, he said hes had 304s in there with cam and head work pullin that so im aall out of ideas

id go straight to your cam timing if its not a compression or fuel related. but saying that the manifold does need attention
