Hey guys, i've got a VQ statesman and the auto is in need of a reco. I have been pricing a few up and was thinking for the few extra dollars, is it worth going to manual?? Just wondering who has done it? how much would it be worth to do everything? and how hard it is to do? Any help is appreciated, cheers Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Theres a kit for sale for $1400 in the Drivetrain section. As far as I know, the ECUs are all the same. So, its much the same as a VL conversion, except you'll be using a cable actuated clutch (instead of hydraulic). I don't know specifics other than that though. Only problem I can see is that your cruise might not work afterwards (mine didn't, although its a VL).

Just drop a second hand auto in it nic. Its a VQ stato - its a cruiser not a powerhouse.

The price of reco autos is a joke, now is the best time to go a T5 and play racer.

price: anywhere between 1000 and 2000 depending on box condition and it is dead easy to swap over

so does anyone know 100% these few questions. Can you use existing ecu and wiring loom? Do you have to make any modifications to the floor pan or firewall? Cheers for the comments so far, it is looking like a likely option as i was given a rough quote of $1700 for a full reco auto box, change over. It's a rip i reckon.

ye ri shopped around a fair bit. wreckers wanted between 1900-2500 for full conversion to T5 manual. i ended up picking up a low km conversion for 1400, pays to shop round.

The only thing I think that may not work after the conversion is the cruise control, due to different wiring. I may be wrong. Go the five speed.
