Basicly whats happening is the guts of the rear muffler seem to be blocking up the exhaust flow in turn making my extractors glow and the engine temps to rise.
Unfortunantly im a bit strapped for cash at the moment, and want to know if removing the rear muffler will make the car too loud / annoying to drive untill i can sort a replacement.
The current setup at the moment is 2 1/2 genie extracors into what looks to be a 2" or 2 1/4" exhaust with cat, and a long muffler tube, exhaust place said hotdog. then out to a huge redback muffler that is completely rooted.
This current setup has always been bloody quiet even at full noise. put simply the engine fan is twice as loud.
Will cutting this rear muffler off untill a replacement can be sorted make it too loud in your opinion?
Cheers Matt
i had no rear muffler for a while and it sounded great, it wasnt too loud and it had a nice burble on deccelaration without any drone
im taking my rear muffler off very soon to get that sound back, so yes in my opinion its a much better idea to take it off then to fry your engine
I'm gonna get my exhaust redone soon. I've got extractors, CAT, big stock looking muffler, and a resonator at the back. It's pretty quiet. You cant hear it idle, but when you get to the sweet spot of the revs it sounds nice.
Just cut her off. It shouldnt be too loud. If the mufflers half blocked like you said, its best ya do it.
Ive been running mine for three years with 2 1/2", cat and only the front muffler. no back muffler been pulled over few times but the coppers didn't say anything. even when you take off and hit bout 4 grand before hittin the next gear
I have also Extrators and 2 and a half with no middle muffler and a lukey rear muffler i took the rear one off once sounded awesome but god damn gave me a headache driving through tunnels so put it back on cos its loud enough and has a decent note with it on.
