Hi,
I'm looking at a set of the Focal K2 power 165 K3P speakers for my car, front and rears. Not interested in subs.
Basically, I don't know much about them, but I figure somebody here will. Cash is no object with me as I have been saving for a while. Just curious as to what type of wiring I should use to get the most from the speakers and what not.
Unfortunately I am only using a Clarion DXZ 825 MP at the moment, but this shall be upgraded sometime in 08 so I am not too fussed about it at the moment.
Any advice? It's either these of the Type X Alpine, which I don't mind either. But I still think these are alot more clear. Not as powerful it seems, but the clarity is greater.
What do people think?

Have you actually listened to both?

I have, I preferred the Focal. Which I guess is what I should go for.
But more than anything, I was just asking what others thought of the Focal. I haven't really seen much of them until I listened to them. I was going to go buy the TypeX stuff then I got shown the Focal and there was just something about the sound that I preferred.

Unless your a abit of an audiophile and can really respect a good quality speaker its hard to pick whats suites you, and theres no point in listening to them when theyre on a board in a display room.
If you want a good speaker. MB Quart Q series - QSF 216 they're some serious shi*t!
Ive had Type R and X alpine, from having them and listening to both focal k2 power and quart, i'd say the all listed are excellent speakers, both focal and quart seem to be just that tiny bit more crisper. Thats a marginal difference considering the money between them and alpine.
Either way, your heading in the right direction. Just make sure you have a very good quality and powerful amp to run them.
/btw what matters when reading specs is the dB sensitivity and the Frequency response, sure power handling matters but when your dealing with these quality speakers its hardly important

The thing I respect the most is, I don't have the time to put them in, the guy whos doing it for me, is going to order a set of the type x, and install both for me, and then which ever I prefer... I keep. Which I think is awesome.
But, im getting all the doors sound proofed and everything as I tend to think, paying this price, I don't want the sound lost through out the door.
So while it will end up expensive, it will be awesome. I drive over 2 hrs a day, so I love a good quality sound.
But as you said, about listening to them on the board, is the same thing the installer said. Hence installing both for me.

same, i've hears most of the alpine series, MB quart, and Focals, the K2P are amazing speakers, and they are what i'd go for, honestly, i dont even see alpine in the same catagory as MB or Focal.
IMO the bottom end MB's sound better than ANYTHING in the alpine range, that said, the new type X pro (or whatever the top one is) may sound better, but they arent even built by alpine lol

I used to have a full kenwood system in my old vl which i ripped out when i sold it... I sold off my subs amps ect but kept some of the speakers to put in my new car when i brought it...
I brought a VS Senator which came with a full sound system with custom boot install ect... Now ive decided to sell the rest of my kenwood equipment and upgrade the speakers & subs in my new car...
I'm currently tossing up between the Focal Polyglass v1 or v2 series speakers or Alpine Type R... I dont want to spend a fortune as it's no show car but i want good sound quality... Sorry to high jack your thread but what would be the best option for clear clarity and every day use?

but yeh find a place that you can listen to em and you can form your own opinion on how they sound, but yeah they are the ones i was talking about that are better than nearly the entire alpine range, including new lower spec type X's
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
