Fuck sake, i have to say the VL is the ****tiest car to do any type of car audio installs in, every other car ive done was piss easy, including a huge install in a 300zx witch took HALF the time it took me to do these splits alone.
anyway, some response splits + cross overs + 40$ supercheap pods.
End result, not to bad, they literally cannot go anywhere else on the fucking door.

i installed it lol.
the magnet on the speaker is to ****ing big, i got the supercheap spacer, and 2 other round spacers ontop and the speaker magnet only JUST fits. anymore and it hits the window.
Also had troubles with screws being to long and being close to the window etc, ****ing hell, would have been easier with some VR/VS door pods.
edit : btw...when i said job...i dont mean this is my job, i meant it was a ***ing annoying job to do on my car.

You could have done 1 of 2 things instead. Make up a custom mounting panel that gives you the right depth for your speaker, such as my one:
With that I used a step in the panel to give it more depth and then put in the Alpine logo with sound deadening material. The crossover is under the dash and the tweeter is in the stock position.
The other option is to use some VR/VS pod's, they look stock and give you the benifits of map pockets, which is what I am doing with my new door trims.
