Yeh its getn there slow, been bout 2yrs since it was on road i rekn, just buzy workn these days.
Why RB20? I dunno, i did RB20 conversion runnig Redtop at the start and after i blew it up i swapd it for a silvertop RB20 so didnt cos me anythnig, then it just went from there, Keen to see what i can get out of a RB20, somethnig different havent seen many built 20s plus im doing everythnig myself. plus it went hell harder then my RB30e. Will just have to wait and see how it goes, my mate had a RB20 VL running 17psi full stock engine made 266rwkws but nosie lefter and stopd it there so it had more power then they ran it too and that thing was nuts. 17psi was wheel spin 1st, 2nd, 3rd could hardly keep it straight.
Nar im still open to suggestions to what turbo il be running havent decided yet, will prob end up running hi-flow S2 RB25 till i find a nice turbo to suit?
Any ideas are welcome, (except pay outs about RB20s)
Thanks Damo
I need few parts so i can finish paintn VL, I Need:- Bonnet in good nick no dents still glue down, i need good nick front bar or Group A front. i need rear quarter window covers.
Also any good good nick 4 door seals or new ones? and new bailey channels?
Any one good anythnig else i might be interested in let us no.
Also need a VL manual tailshaft or just front half on VL manual tail shaft for a RB20 conversion into a Nissan Cema at work?
Thanks alot guy Damo!!!

Sorry mate, didnt mean to offend with the RB20 comment, was just wondering.
There have been a couple of higher powered RB20's, it just seems to get the best use and cost for power people seem to go for the 30 or the 25/30

depending on how much u wanna spend on a turbo i reckon a good T04 or even one of those XR6 turbos! also depending on weather u want a hi or low mount setup, just a suggestion
how much did u pay for the balancer/where did u get it??
Looking real good tho!

24-12-07, 13:16 GMT+10#11 xr6t = GT3540 with .50 front housing, 1.06 rear housing, internal gate. Early XR6Ts also had a smaller front wheel from memory.

24-12-07, 13:29 GMT+10#13 GT3076r would be good on an RB20... GT3082r if you wanna step things up a little and GT3582r if you don't mind a bit of lag and wanna make bigger power

30-12-07, 00:39 GMT+10#14 Definitely don't drop a XR6T turbo on the rb20 or any sort of GT35 for that matter it will be a pig to drive.
Either look at a nice trust TD06-20g with an 8cm housing or a Garrett GT3076r (HKS3037s spec .6comp 6blade comp wheel 60mm turbine) with the .6 rear and appropriately sized ext gate.
The old crappy GT3076r that runs a .7 comp cover and 7blade comp wheel is absolute crap. They don't make the power as easily as they should struggling to crack 240-250rwkw.
The HKS3037S spec GT3076r that Garrett have been selling for a while is an excellent 300 to very low 300rwkw turbo. The next step up is the GT35r not the GT3082 which tend to be a little lazy; compared to the HKS3037s spec GT3076r and not make any more power on pump fuel.
On pump fuel they both peak out around 320-330rwkw absolute max from what I have seen on the twin camers.
In saying that I am biased as I have a GT3076r .82 (hks3037s spec) on my rb30det which makes 268rwkw on 15psi at 6000rpm; power holds nice to 7000rpm; seat of the pants it doesn't ease up until rev cut @7100rpm. Still on the std plenum, inlet & exhaust manifold and std 240/232 cams.
17psi peak we saw was 285rwkw BUT (here come the excuses) the rb20t gearbox at the time would not have lasted long & a slight ignition problem began to emerge from the stock cracked coils so we dropped back to stock boost (15psi) where it was happy.
A few years back a mates rb25det with 256 duration cams made 323rwkw on a shade over 20psi with a HKS3037S.
Definitely not a turbo to write off. Just be sure you are getting the 'right' GT3076r and not the one with the .7 comp cover and 7blade comp wheel that struggles to crack 250rwkw.
Size the turbo to the power you want to make + a little more.
I'd look at the GT3076r .6 56t 6blade comp with a .6 rear with a pair of mid 250degree duration cams for the RB20 if you want to have a crack at 300rwkw.
Don't go too big with cams; the rb20's loose port velocity due to the small stroke and laaaaaaaaaaaag.
