hey guys,
my brothers got a vl n/a, and a few days ago his blinker handle **** itself. cause of this a few things arnt working. these are his highbeams dont work at all but parklights and headlights still work, indicators dont hold unless you crunch them in, the light inside the car stopped working after that, his dash time restarts everytime he switches the car on and his heater actually was working and now doesnt work at all, also his got a cd deck in it that stoped working also, but the radio still works off it.
the blinker handle hasnt be changed yet, but are all these problems cause of just that handle or..??
cheers
Perhaps by "crunching" the indicator stalk you've damaged some ignition connections, making the heater "think" the car is never switched on. Long shot, but thats my guess. Maybe pull the column out and take a good look.
And definately get a new indicator stalk!
Don't know about the other electrics...but previously had the problem that my high beams would not stay on and when indicating right the stalk would not "stick". Removed the steering wheel, replaced stalk with a newby and high beams now work fine and also fixed indicator problem.
i had sort of similar problem with the lights not sure about the heater and the clock but i just replaced the indicator stalk and all works fine, $20 from wreckers at most and see how you go from there.
My indicator stalk also broke a few years ago, that orange/red plastic was
quite fragile, made up an ally bracket screwed and glued it too and it was ok,
but yeah you might have done more damage when moving when it was broken
taking it out is fairly easy and quick,
guys changed the indicator stalk.. evertyhings working all fine
changed a few fuses and interior light and cd player now operating..
only thing now is.. when ever he applies the cars brakes his parklights go on immediately..
what could that be caused from.??
thanks lads!
Those wires from parkers to stop are on common loom in boot and in bundle
near right front door - afaik. I had some abrasion on that bundle and it messed
up the rear demister...
