Hey Guys, I just wanna clarify something.. When advancing the timing on a NA 6Cyl VL Is it true that the fuel economy will get worse? Yes or No?

Mate the only thing that is really going to effect your fuel economy is your right foot. Years back we used to give cars an extra 2-3 degrees of advance to ake them go a bit better, it doesn't really apply to the newer ones as the ECU does the majority of the work. Best bet for good fuel economy is drive it like nana and ensure that all your sensors work and are in spec.

I havent noticed anything with mine. Mines on 17 degrees now which probably only makes a bees d ick difference.

Depends how far you go - the optimum for the RB30 motor is 15 deg BTDC. Some motors with different geometry chambers and compression ratios can go to 35 deg - it all depends. If you go from 15 to 17 you prob wouldnt notice much economy difference but you might get some ping under heavy load, especially if your fuel system is a bit marginal... The issue for most people here seems to be in respect of power and driveabilty instead of economy,
