Installed a new deck, splits, sub and amp in a mates car today.
wired amp under the seat, with ground bolted to the chassis, 12v from the battery with safety fuse, remote from the deck. then wired splits through cross over, keep all positives and negatives apart, so theres no mix up.
then wired headunit to the amp through 2 sets of RCA cables, one for sub and one for splits.
sub runs on rear channels and splits are on front.
everything was ok untill i started the car, i can here almost a 'static' ticking in the speakers and sub, perfectly inline with the fanbelt. when the car revs the ticking pace picks up.
the Deck has a frequency box thingo, forgot the name, .. sits on the 12v feed to the deck, although amp doesnt.
any suggestions ?
cars a ...94 civic i think it was :P

Im assuming you have well shielded RCA's in that case.
Even so your best bet is to run power one side of the car and RCA's down the other as already mentioned. With VL's this is epecially easy to do.
