im in brisbane and i honestly dont see many vl calais around my area, there may be heaps down on the gold coast or up the sunshine coast but i honestly dont see many arond logan city area. i was honestly thinking for a resale of around $3500? i know it sounds like alot for an unregstd car but nice straight calais are getting harder to find, but cheers for the valuations fellas anyone else?

Motor is shagged, paint doesnt look real flash. You would be hard pushed to get any more than 2k anywhere. If you put a new motor in or reco'd it and sprayed it(mite even just need a good cut and polish)
Also that suspension doesnt look real healthy so a suspension change is in order(more money to be spent and people buying cars dont like spending money)
Stereo gear loses its value as soon as its installed. If you stripped the car it would be worth more than 2k, but as is you would be lucky to get it...
If you tidied it up the paint work, got the head done and fixed suspension u could probably push it out to 4-5k easy.
ebay it with a 40g reserve start it at $1 then see what it goes to then u will have a pretty good idea of what it would sell 4................it would be worth more with standard stereo etc hope u aint cut any holes in parcel shelf
cheers to all for the comments!
so approx $2000 is the mark! i will keep the car then and do it up as originaly intended
cheers fellas!

yeah vl,s but i dont see alot of vl calais around! especially nice ones!
i woudlnt pay 1500 for it!...
mine was 3500, 12 months rego, rwc and it alot better condition (had a stuffed gearbox, but came with one) over the past 2 years of daily driving, the paint has faded and all, but still... considering what i paid for mine when i got it...
somone will look at the 700 or so for rego and all the things, 500 for a roady, and work to be done (i always put 500 for a roady, as thats what its mostly cost me to get them done) needs a motor, would spend 1000 on a reco one, paint another 2 or 3 grand... all up 4000 or so you have to spend to have a nice looking car, and then its still a stocker calais, mind you, nobody has 15" mags anymore
cheers for all the comments fellas!
i will be keeping the car, was just wanting ideas on resale cost thats all

from what ive seen in the past, victoria is the easiest place to get VL's and they go cheap as down there. Up here in qld its a different story.....to find a stockish VL calais is next to impossible and thats one of the best examples ive seen for a little while. I know alot of ppl like me who look for stock cars so u can basically start from scratch and then YOU know whats been done and how its been done. Blows smoke??? Probably just worn valve stem guide seals......piss easy to fix. 180,000km's is **** all.....especially for an RB30. Paint? probably only needs a cut and polish?? Suspension..........surely if u like VL's u know how easy it is to put new rear springs and shocks in and the front is reasonably low now, could go just a tad lower. Anyways my point is to find a VL up here in decent condition is hard.....and to buy one from VIC would end up costing you a fortune to get it up here anyway so really i can see 3 grand in that......and ive made a little bit of money buying and selling a couple of VL's.

cheers mate!
see that,s what i was trying to say in one of my earlier post,s about there not being many calais near me, i live in brisbane and im serious about the fact i honestly dont see many vl calais around my area! when i was looking for a calais most of them up here go for around the $5500-7k mark n/a regstd! the smoke is from stem seals and the motor has heaps of getup and go left in it, the paint is gone on the bonnet, roof and boot but is still respectable to drive ect interiour has a 2 or 3 ciggie burns but stil very clean for the cars age, you do get baragins around the place though, like theres a 1 owner vl calais imaculate regstd in the trader @ the moment for $2950 but these examples are rare anywhere!
