Hey just wondering if anyone can help? I have a N/A vl that wont start. I have checked spark and have heaps of spark at the plug, also have checked fuel at the fuel rail and have fuel there. The car fires and will keep fireing but just won't start. Any suggestions would be great its driving me crazy. Thanks

are the little led lights under the lh kick panel flashing, have you pulled the plugs out what colour are they sound like low fuel pressure try finding the fuel line that has fuel coming out and crimp the other one and try starting it as this will help get more fuel pressure

air flow meter, check the piping from the air flow meter to the throttle body, make sure its tight and all

any fuel smell in exhaust, you might have fuel pressure but no injector activity,

The plugs are farly new checked and cleaned them. The lights on the ecu arn't flashing there on solid have checked fault codes and nothing that shouldnt come up came up. As for the smell in the exhaust i will check tomorrow and see if it smells like petrol, and will also find the hose and try that and see what happenes. I do have a feeling it could be fuel pump as the car was running started running rough and then stalled now just keeps fireing and wont start. Thanks for the help.

yep its fuel pump. Same thing that happened to mine. Will be external not internal. Exact same thing. Maybe the last 3 or 4 times i started it it would turn over bad, run crap, then work fine while driving. Then one day it just died and would not start again. Could not smell fuel anywhere. Changed over fuel pump and all sweet.

did you check the afm piping? this happened to me in a multi story underground car park, and me bineg me, i went to the bottom and no tow truck could come lol.... took me 3 hours to figre out it was the afm piping (cost a ****load in extra parking) but yeah

Yeah i did check the afm pipeing it's all ok. Does smell of petrol in exhaust, tried clamping of hose did near start so im pretty convinced it's a problem with fuel pressure so id say fuel pump. ahhhh iv fixed the problem one of the plugs on the ecu wasn,t in properly. Anyway thanks everyone for your help Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

that will do it does it have a clip or a bolt that goes though the plug cause if it dont should put a cable tie over it to hold the plug in so it dont happen again

Yeah it does have a clip, i had it out a few weeks ago to install some splits in the door and must not have cliped it in properly didn't even think of it till the other day. But yeah i will try that just to make sure it stays in. Thanks

my 12yr old was swapping ECU's around when we went for a spin to confirm some injector duty cycle issues, his fingers are smaller but he got tired and didnt quite push the injector connector in all the way - it is pretty hard anyway as we still had that curved bit of metal at the bottom of the ECU thats used as a loom guide etc. Anyway, that was when we got back, started the car a couple of hours later and sounds like its only firing on 4 out of 6 cylinders, pretty weird sort of oscillation - almost like the engine was trying to play a tune So pushed the connectors all in hard and it was ok <phew> though I was a bit worried as it had never sounded like that in all the years I had it, Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

if the rest of the sensors etc in the engine bay are in good nick, the car should start regardless of the afm issues.
