I've been working on my project for a few years now, and previous to that my cousin was doing the same for a long time. From what he tells me though, the car has a fair history to it. It began life as an 86 white SL, and it can't have been very old when it was converted to wear Walky kit , apparently one of the first ones to do so. Big deal you might say. What is interesting is that it used to be called 'The Terminator', was painted electric blue with silver and purple flash graphics, and ran a 350 chev with an alloy cover that allowed only the air cleaner through. It went to one of the early (late 80's?) summernats, ran third in the burnout comp, and was apparently relatively well known. Now, I have an old door off it, and a couple of bits of bodykit with parts of the paintwork on it, and for the rest I'm only going from what I've heard from my cuz, and a few other people around the scene have vague memories of it as well. Does anyone know anything about this car, pics or magazines or anything? Anything would be awesome to know. Cheers!

This should give you some kind of idea of what the colour scheme was like, these are the only bits left, I dug them out over the weekend. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

A fave car of my youth that vanished many years ago. If My memory is correct, the original car ran a 304 built pretty much to touring car spec, but running on LPG, backed by a Super T10 and a nine inch out the back. Paint was candy apple blue/purple and the car originally had a VL Group A kit and ran on 16 inch BSA Momo Star copies. A few other bits of info off the top off my head, the car was featured in Street Machine sometime around 1990, it also features prominently on one of the old Summernats tapes, which if you look around, some video shops might still have. The car came second in the 1989-90 Summernats burnout comp, blowing the radiator in the final before being beaten by Chris Christou's XY GTHO.

yep ive got that one. the car as you said was on LP Gas, and much more purple than blue, with the pink flash graphics and a big alloy engine cover. it also had a tiny little bonnet scoop on it. EDIT - here we go, jeez i'm a nice bloke this was A G E S ago, in the same issue they are testing the VN Group A as a brand new, just released car! 1990 Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Hmmmm, maybe I've been misinformed, similar ish kind of paint scheme, but mine doesn't have a sunroof, and i'm not sure it ever had a group a kit, the paintwork i've got bits of still are on walky kit parts, and was underneath in the engine bay. Maybe there was two incarnations in slightly different fashions?

Yeah looks like you have been misinformed, paint colour is miles out, and the parts you have shown to be yours arent on that car anyway.

yeah i agree, they certainly arent off that car imo. thats the terminator there anyway, even if its from that, certainly a very interesting little piece. i still cant get over it though, 17 years ago!

Theres some interesting clues though, my car def came from gippsland, like that one did, the paint scheme, altough slightly different colours, seems to to be a similar pattern (i did use to have a rear door that had a graphic flash like that car^^) I wonder whether the same guy built another car??
