im just wondering if the cheap subs from places like JB are any good? my mate just got a 12" 1000w kenwood sub and it doesnt sound too bad. Is it worth paying the extra money for something like alpine type R or S?

i find they are good. just depends how specific your are when it comes to audio. if you what liek really punchy,smooth,etc bass maybe go for the more expensive ones but if you just want a sub for some bass go jb
is that kenwood like a typhoon?, if so, nice sub, had 2 of em, took em back n got the newer model

But he is not makin sense. Those subs are terrible. Only time you would find me buying audio gear from Super Cheap or JB Hi-Fi is because I wanted to have an electrical fire in my car.
Also Boss Audio are awesome too
response precision ftw speaker wise anyways they produce decent bass and then with 2 10" kickers in my wagon its nuts so i ended up taking one out because i do like mid and high range
