3weeks ago i got pulled over on beach road. I copped a minor canary for pod, guages, too low, and 19s.Since im running a straight gas setup he couldnt really do me for top mount, plenum etc...
Problem is that i need a RWC also. Its pretty hard to get a road worthy cos of holes cut for cooler piping etc.
Anywayz i called vicroads yesterday cos i lost the defect notice from the police and they said they do not have a canary for my vehicle on their records. Has this happened to anyone else on here?
dude thats awesome.. thats like a 1 in a million clerical error!
enjoy!
also.. what did they get u for re: gauges ?

yeah he got me for guages on the bonnet.
Its 100% legal to have guages on the bonnet on a vl. But,I find it best not to argue with the the togy. Its easier to undo the six bolts that hold the guages on than try to explain to a drop out fundamentals of their job.
So has this happened to anyone here?

the gauges thing has never happened to me... all the times ive been pulled over no one's said anything about them...
and the phantom canary thing has only happened to me.... in my dreams!!
I just rang vicroads again, and it is still not on their system. They recon maybe the officer hasnt sent off his paper work. How long do u recon i should wait before tearing the car out again?

I'd say you still need a RWC, buddy. Let me guess - chopped and/or missing rear springs?
With gauges on the bonnet, they can't be lighter than the vehicles' body colour, and can't be chrome - as far as I know. They pick on it as a vision danger/interference (reflecting light into your eyes).

to clear a major u need a roady. wether they forgot to mark it or not.
dont get too excited yet bud he probly hasnt sent the form off yet. happened to my cousin thought he got away with it. they never just 'forget' to send off a defect.
dont u know cops and ppl like us r like big black cocks and tight asian pussy, we just dont go together.

guages are fine. cop couldnt really do me for anything and he was scraping the bottom of the barrel. They can also be chrome, because law states that they must not be more reflective than the rest of your cars body. Thankfully the genius who designed the vl calais chose a chrome badge on the front and chrome mouldings round the side windows.

no matter what the cop says to you when he gives you the canary, "you have 7 days to fix this vehicle" they only say that to get you off the road, but vicroads rules state that every unroadworthy car has 28 days to fix and rwc their vehicle, and it doesnt show on the system for 28 days that a canary has been applied. i used to scrape canarys off the window and clean it after i got canaried, and if i got pulled over again within a month id say i had a new windscreen fitted and lost the canary... i had 3 canarys on 1 car once (all within 28 days because the system did not show that the car was unroadworthy)
the ppl at vicroads wont know till the 28 days is up, but if you go in with a RWC they will note it on their system so that when it comes through you have already shown the RWC slip
a mechanic mate of mine used to use this to his advantage as well.. being a mechanic that serviced police vehicles back then he "acquired" a whole book of canaries.. and when we went away camping or to summernats he would write his own and back date it a week... so if the cop looked on the system it would not have been processed yet and we were on our way again in the clear.. get home scrape it off and no probs lol
Hi mate, this exact situation happened to me as well once, but my canary was a major, got the road worthy for it went vic rds within the first 7days, no record in there system, I asked the service desk consultant if this usually happens, and they said some officers just send them in late, and as I had the roady already I just wanted to clear it legit. This was seriously very frustrating cause I thought why the f$%^ did I get a roadworthy when that cop was so slack to even put it in the system lol. They said the best thing to do is just give them a copy of the roadworthy cert and they will keep it on system and once it hits their system will be cleared automatically. I kept calling for about 2-3 weeks, it was never on there system then out of curiosity called again outta the blue and they said it was cleared. So dont think your out of it dude just do what they requested & carry the rd worthy in the car for about 1-2 weeks and remember to resist temptation and LEAVE THE CAR RDWORTHY! while carrying the rd worthy with you, cause if a cop pulls you over and you show them the roady and your cars slammed to the ground pretty pointless lol...Even if your curious you can contact the station which the officer was from and req to speak to the officer and ask him whats the go, this info is usually on the infringement notice. But if you want try your luck keep your mouth shut, and argue your point when the cops pull you over telling you your driving a unregistered vehicle, cause you didnt clear a canary which you thought was lost. Bottom line is cops are just lazy!
