yeh alot of threads about this, get the silicone between the boot welds, stops alot of rattle, move the boot catcher thing, looks like an upside down "U" so the boot gets held down a bit tighter. should stop a bit of the rattle

i run alot of bass, loud, constantly, lol i had the same prob, stick a sh1tload of silicone between the boot welds, tighten everything, get a mdf/custom parcel tray if u havnt got one already, pull the U bracket down for the boot and thats about it... u cant do much ive pulled my U bracket down so far that the boot lid is about 10mm lower than the body, looks abit hoo hoo but hell who gives a dam lol! and, dont be afraid of pulling itso far down that u gotta sit on ur boot so it closes!

Goto bunnings and ask for Flashtec they use it in roofs.. its sort of a copy of dynamat ( no where near as good ) but I have it in my boot and it has made a HUGE different to panel resonance and the rattles itself.. give it a shot.. goodluck

is the dynamat better?

Hello, Yes dynamat is much more superior to Flashtech. All of those "proper" sound deadening materials such as dynamat and stinger road kill etc etc, use a much better adhesive, I have noticed that flashtec MUST be basically dust free and must be totally clean before applying. All other "proper" sound deadener's are more tolerant to dirty surfaces but even then a clean surface with provide maximum adhesive strength. If you want to do it on the cheap side maybe try adding extra adhesive to the Flashtec and see how that goes. Goodluck

Don't forget the boot garnish as a big source of potential rattles. A lot of people only use the two brackets to hold them on when re-fitting them. If they are attatched by the brackets and ALL 4 SCREWS (especially the 2 bottom ones) it helps a lot

I may be able to source some Real sound deading stuff... puts that dynamat to shame! its about 80 per liter, and putting it on, say a boot, will get rid of that tinny sound and make it clunk like a bank vault! it has been used in the car that won the australasian sq events a few years ago... reason why its not commercially available is because there isnt a large enough markert for such high quality stuff... most people are happy with dynamat or whatever... this is taking sound deadening to the next level
