Ok, so on the news tonight.. some hippie put an electric motor into some ****ty old car.. what really pisses me off is, no mention of a certification, and it says he put it all together himself and doesn't have any mechanical knowledge.
Doesn't go into the issues like the rest of the cars electrics. And both the idiot and the presenter go on about how great it is because there's no maintenance, and how he will save $2500 on gas and upkeep.. implying that since it's electric the rest of the car doesn't need looking after (brakes, tyres, blah blah blah, list goes on, and replacing the batterys of course(which he paid $3000 for)) and best of all, no mention of paying for the power to charge the batterys.
The one sided views of the media..
its cos it "isnt so harmful to the environment" well im sorry but new zealand isnt going to make fu*k all difference to green house effect LOL we are .3% of the problem
And everyone whines too much for us to have wind farms, so isn't there still some coal burning factorys..
The electricity has to come from somewhere.
I wouldn't give 2 ****s if there was a giant wind turbine in my backyard.
They did mention about how much it cost to charge the batterys, And if you had a giant wind turbine in your backyard you prob would give a ****, beacause of all the sleep you would be missing. Good on him for giving something different ago, Sorta like driving a turbo'd commy its different.

Haha, you might change your mind if you've ever stood underneath one!!
Spot on on the first comment tho. I think they did mention charging the car on the show, the guy reckoned it was only a few dollars per full charge.
Oh i checked out the electric car owners web page, couldn't see anything about a cert, but... State insurance will no longer insure him as the car is "too heavily modified"
Who said I get sleep as it is?..
I saw it on the channel 3 news, all I heard about charging it was that it had to be done every 60km.. which get's me thinking, if it cost him $50 for gas a week before.. that'd mean he'd need to recharge atleast once a day? And that's if he was just scraping every K out of it (which would be a stupid risk to take).. and I'm assuming 60kms is at it's best, no headlights and everything.
Electric cars just piss me off, im not sure what annoys me more though.. that, or the no cert thing. What should take more checking over, this conversion, or converting an RB20E VL to an RB30E?
And at say $3 a charge, once a day, that adds up to $21 a week, meaning it'd take a ****ing long time to balance out the cost of the conversion.
