i picked up a rb20 vl last week and am having a couple of issues. when the motor warms up it starts misfiring. sounds like its running on 4. this is after the motor has been running for 3-5 min. is there any common faults with these motors? I think it may either be the coil packs or the fuel pump is real noisey (alot noiser than all my other vls anyway) any ideas? need to try sort this out asap. cheers ok tried the coil out of my parts car and didnt fix the problem. reckon i should try a new set of plugs? keep in mind it only misfires when warm ok just been working on it further. the problem is between 1 and half thousand to 2 and a half thousand revs. any higher rpm and it runs fine. it stutters if you stab the gas

if there is sign of misfiring due to rich mix check the cts & connections but all these older cars need attention with loom and connectors, also the high voltage stuff will degrade more quickly,

long distance diagnosis can never be certain - well except by accident... Since you tell me the fuel pump cuts out then when it doesnt its flow may be erratic, good thing you told us, so attend to that first, if you have two pumps then go after both of them, esp the in tank with a flow test and the external is prob best getting a new one if its more than 10-15 years old or so
