Looking at buying a truck turbo built into a drag turbo, just been reco, .96 comp 1.27 exhaust. My car is pretty much going to be a show/drag, powerglide, RB30/25 head 500rwkw. I know its stupid over board but its cheap and looks insane ..... will it spool, any idea how long ? thoughs ??

yeah it will spool but will be highg inthe rev range at a guess it would be 4,500-5,000 rpm will drag ok but just put some nos on it too..

you want 500kw and your scrimping already. the turbo is the single most important factor in making big power,i would buy the best turbo i could afford if i was you

thats where nos, highstall and transbrake come in handy (and also 4.5:1 diff gears lol)

Its a huge ****er... hopefully a bit of a dyno queen as well. Id be happy to put the $2k i save into rods / pistons ....

didnt say it was, but lets look at it like this. stock crank, forged rods, pistons, twin cam head = 500kw engine already have twin 044, wolf 500V, will need injectors, manifold, cooler. Far as im concerned $2k makes a bloody good dint. Anyone want to elabarate on what else would be needed ? (engine only)

For a genuine 500rwkw i hope you are budgeting at least 20k on the engine side of things... Bottom end = 5-10k (depending on how long you want it to last for) Top end = 3.5k (with porting, cams, head gasket and studs) Manifold = 1k Turbo = 2500-3500 Gate = 1000-1500 Dump and 3.5+in exhaust = 1500-2k Intake, oil and water lines, gaskets, fitting etc for hot side = 500 Intake manifold = 1k Intercooler = 200-1k Intercooler piping = 400-1500 ECU, wiring and tuning = 2500 min Ignition = 500 min That's well over 20k and that doesn't even nearly cover the motor yet, we're talking Machining, bearings, seals, belts, wiring etc, then there is the installation and putting the entire thing together, you'd be laughing if the motor alone (no gearbox no diff etc etc) came in at only 20k! My 2c

My 2c 2C well noted, Yer i know what your saying and your right, rule 1, what ever u expect to pay, double it. Was expecting about that. This was more on if the turbo would work. I know its big but ive seen GT55's on supras in the states. I know there just dyno queens or drag cars but ......

How big are the wheels? .96 and 1.27 don't mean a lot without knowing the wheel sizes. Sean Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

My 2c We need more posts like this, theres so many dreamers out there that expect big power and piss and moan when they hear how much it costs. Theres no such thing as cheap when it comes to building a reliable fast car. Word of advice to people out there, know what you want BEFORE you even think about modifying your car, something as simple as bolting on a turbo and upping the boost can spark a chain of events the will lead to you spending 10x more then your ever expected to pay. I garantee 80% of the people that build monster cars did so because their first motor went pop after their first half ass attempt at modifications and they said "**** it, might as well go full enchalada now"
