So about a month ago i got pulled over for dosing, and the cop couldnt figure out what was making this hektik noise. He kept badgering me trying to get me to admit where i was hiding my blow off valve, but i maintained that i didnt have one - he couldnt find one, and he gave up.
Little did i know that he would report me to the EPA.
So a couple of weeks later i got a letter in the mail saying that I had to go down for an inspection.. i was like hmm okay..
So i took off my cooler, malpassi, dose pipe, boost controller, etc and since i had my exhaust dB tested last year and passed (87 dB) i left it as it was.
Here's how my engine bay looks now...
Anyway so I get down there, and the guy starts asking me if i've had an intercooler, a blow off valve, a dose pipe, etc..
Wait a minute.. dose pipe? I was thinking to myself how does this dude who's in his late 40's (at least) know about dose pipes.........

Then the guy looks at my engine bay and rips out
"Well this is a different setup to what you had on youtube"
I was like W...T...F !!?!?
I go "Excuse me, what?"
It turns out the EPA uses my car in their training videos to teach their officers all about dosing!
Also turns out that my 'How to make your VL dose' article on CT helped them out a bit too... hmmm...
This was the conversation we had:
Me: Why would you be watching my youtube vids?
Him: Its public domain.
Me: Yes, but why would you WANT to?
Him: I'm an investigator.
Me: So in essence, I educated you on dosing, providing you with the means to bring me down.
Him: Pretty much.
Me: And you REALLY use my car in your training videos?
Him: Yep.
Me: That is SO fucking COOL !!!!
Me: Can i see it?
Him: Nope.
Me: Damn.
Anyway by this point he showed his hand, I showed mine - I didnt have to pretend like I didnt know what an intercooler was anymore.
He asked me "what do you do for a living?"
I go "You know exactly what I do for a living." to which he replied "yeah....DJing at Autosalon again this year?"
What........ The.............. Fuck.
He goes that they couldve easily have issued me an inspection notice based on my youtube vids, but they wanted to see how long it would take a cop to report me. Fun.
He also told me that if im caught with a dose pipe on the street i better watch out.............. Uber Fun !
Anyway, at the end of it, turns out im running an N/A carbon cannister, and my exhaust is 3db over the limit.
He offered to not put a sticker on my windscreen so my car is neat for autosalon, but im gonna wear it like a badge of honour
So LR, when you read this, and I know you will, thanks for letting me educate your officers on dosing technology and general muzzness.

Ive got two choices the way i see it...
I can keep dosing and run the risk of getting done again - but if i get done im gonna get done HARD
or
Cut my losses, retire from the dose game and appoint a new dose king...
I cant decide. Either way im cutting my mullet off.

Actually I dont recall the Chasers ever doing anything on EPA and 'hoons' cars, would be cool to
have one of the actors look like you and roll up to the EPA in your car

Even though youtube is public domain, don't they still need the owner's permission to use thier vids for any purpose? If so, see if you can cut a deal, they get to keep using your footage and info to "educate" thier officers, and you get a lifetime supply of leave your car the f@ck alone.
Nice write up, now we've been educated on what a bunch of tools the EPA are, using the people they want to bust to teach thier own because thier too useless to do it themselves. Gee the laws suck these days, too many restrictions to make the whingers happy, and score votes for the pollies.
Bit like the wharfies when Howard got them sacked. My old man and few guys he worked with were asked to train some "new employees" for a few weeks. What they didn't know was they were training the a$$hole scabs who were going to take thier jobs.
Agree with the Chaser comment, send them a letter, they'll love it, and might do a story on it, anything to stir sh!t with the authorities.

What happens now, if you put a quieter exhaust on and a turbo canister do they take the sticker off?
actually i can take the sticker off whenever i want, cause its on voluntarily lol
all i gotta do is quieten my exhaust by 3db, get a turbo cannister and go there and show them - thats it
so im not really phased by it, im just amazed at the fact that they know me lol
we should be thankful the EPA are putting our tax dollars towards education on dosing.
Imagine our society without them
lucky theres no murderers or theives out there for them to worry about
