there only purpose is to stop excessive belt slip. the cool whine is just a plus they arent really gears, but pulleys, in which the teeth in them, mesh with the teeth in the belt, and makes slipping near impossible. two disadvantages however, if you dont do it tight enough, when the car free revs, you can sheer the teeth right off, and if you do it too tight (like the wankers out there, who do it just to get the loudest possible whine) you'll put alot of strain on both the water pump and alternator. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Dont forget they put strain on your crank / balancer. Theyre cool but they can have bad consequences.

yeah a tiny bit, but most of the small NA kits arent big enough to put too much strain down there. when you start talking gilmer drives for blowers but - be afraid, be very afraid Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

just like gear drives "that are a must have cause the car will sound supercharged", they can be harmful and i wouldnt bother with belts or drives unless i got a blower
