Would any one be able to help? Car is blowing smoke from exhaust when under accelaration when cold. When it heats up more to running temp it blows nearly all the time, seems to happen when oil thins and when oil pressure gauge drops. Isn't over heating and there is milky oil under the cap on roccker cover. Any explanations?

Headgasket is history Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

water in oil most likely from a head gasket failure or cam tunnel crack due to lack of water etc Happened to me once. Other type of failure can be due to corrosion - either way points to a head removal and inspection,

whats the gasket worth these days?

Gasket itself is less than $100, but you would be looking at a few hundred at least in parts and then labour on top of that if you can't do it yourself.

Yeah, if you are going to do it yourself its well worth getting a few other things done, like valve stem seals and maybe lifters serviced or replaced, minor corrosion around galleries where they meet with block is easy to fix, if you have a crack along cam tunnel - which used to be a common problem, then its worth getting another head. Its an even money bet whether its just gasket or head gallery corrosion or crack in cam tunnel. Any oil in the water ? and any water mist or steam out of exhaust ?

if you have uped the boost without doing anything else its more than likly going to be a head gasket. the milky look is water leaking from the jacketing into the oil system. it is possible that you have cracked the head if you recently played with the cooling system and not bleed all the air out properly but vlt have also been known to crack heads for other resons. like "jordy" said gaskets arnt that expensive but if you cant do the work yourself it can cost a bit. personally if u brake a part its usually time to think bigger an better. while the heads off why not get a bit of a port job done an maybe some new valves, springs, turbo, etc, etc, etc.

how much does new valves, springs, lifters etc cost 2 rebuild the head and make it better like a ruff price including the gasket?

mate of mine had his done for his VLT at MSC performance with a stage 2 custom cam, lifters, new head gasket, head crack tested, drive in drive out tuned for just under $2000 (keep in mind the cam is only 2-300 worth but money well spent on standard VLT with FMIC and 12psi it made 187rwkw which is decent!!!! not only quoting msc because i like them, cos personally ive never taken a car there as i have mates that give me good rates so no need, but for a proper job expect anywhere between $1500-2000 im saying, but at least u know its done properly, u can always lebjob it and pull it down urself clean it up, slap on a new head gasket for 100$ and hope for the best, but ull more than likely be doing the same thing every 2 weeks unless u do it right the first time!! best bets to ring around rajab/jpc/bresciani/g-tech pet etc and get prices of them all, or go to the workshop of ya choice, but IMO personally wouldnt take it to some1 who doesnt do much work on RB30's, would rather stick with the boys who know what theyre doing! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
