hey everyone, Just a quick question... Im quite capable of installing an am into a car...as i have done my own in my vr... however a friend has asked me if I could do his, as he knows i did mine without a hitch...but before i say yes, I have 2 quick questions... he doesn't want new head unit, as he wants to keep the interia stock..so, does the vy berlina head unit come with rca out...preffable sub out, but ill take front & rear out... or even just an out (left/right channel)... and my second question, when i done mine, i fed my amp power cable from battery thought the gromet in firewall where clutch would go if car was manual, does this grommet still exist in the vy...is there somewhere else i should feed it through?? Cheers, Justin

ive got a mate running 2 amps (i think) off the stock head unit in a VY S so it can be done, im not sure but it must have RCA's? oh well i figure if it can be done in an S commodore then it should be the same if not easier in a berlina cause i assume they would have the same if not more outputs sketchy i know haha oh wells ill just confirm that it can be done off the stock head unit as for putting the wire through the firewall.... well all the other cables have to get through some how so yeh there will be somewhere to stick ur power cable through there u go anyway haha best i can do good luck

see if the headunit doesnt have rca output some amps have a line input, so instead of RCAs they have a plug with R+R- L+L- that you connect the stock speaker wires to...... my amp has it, ill take a pik n post it up 2morow

No rca outputs on a stock unit in a VY. You will need line level converters, Cheap from jaycar, or you can go more expensive ones like the JL audio cleansweep. As for grommet, on the drivers side, up behind the strut tower on the firewall is a large grommet. It will accomodate up to 2G and 0G at a stretch. Ush

Cheers, Justin Im sure theres a grommet in the firewall for a VY, if its automatic then it will probably have the pertrution somewhere. if not squeeze the cable through the eco and loom grommet. Another handy idea is leaching off the cigarete lighter. If he doesnt smoke, and the car has a cigarette lighter, just leach power from there. else. run another cable. dont forget fuses etc.
