Well.. i think ive had better reliabilty out of those chinese turbos off ebay! lol
Anyway.. i have no idea as to why but im pretty sure the turbo oil seal has gone
Got it back from the workshop.. and gave it a little on teh straight only to notice mc****loads of bright blue smoke pouring out of my car...
Pulled over.. gave it a rev in nuetral.. gave it some more.. and NO blue smoke came out.. so to me that rules out head gasket or valve stem seals..
So came to the conclusion that its using ****loads of oil on boost! so THEREFORE turbo seal...
Checked sump/under oil cap and no milky oil (just in case) then realised it was my god damn new turbo... good old trusty $2200 gt3540! Lasted a month!
Anyway ill have to pull it off and get sent to CGC turbos so my car will be off the road AGAIN for a few weeks! Grrr!

Garrett have a warranty nowadays so you will be sweet.
My GT3040 lasted 5000kms before the bearings ****ed out- sweet as No warranty for me either because the turbo was a couple of years old. Oh well, **** happens!

Yeah warranty is all good but its just the time and my car being of the road which is ****!
Can anyone agree to what im saying? could it possibly be anything else?
AND
What usually causes seals on new turbo to go? Do they fill up with crap thats in your oil and eventually crap out?

i bet your engine has so much blowby its forcing the oil through the turbo, seen that happen plenty of times before

but like i said ive been driving it around several weeks and the catch can had crap all oil in it and it never blew blue smoke. ITS ACUTALLY NEVER blown oil ever before or used oil!
Unless a ring has decided to poo itself all of a sudden i doubt it could be the problem surely?!

Yeah, perhaps try bigger breathers first.. i was tempted to say that originally

Not to mention i pulled the spark plugs out and they arent covered in oil!
If anything i just wished it was a head gasket lol
ATMO BT1.. im telling you now i HAVE absolutely no oil in it now as ive emptied it about 2 weeks ago.. now all of a sudden its using ****loads of oil BUT the catch can is dead empty!
WELL I GUESS ill conduct a Compression test to fully tell if its the turbo or not!

28-09-07, 17:56 GMT+10#10 penrite sin10 10-70W fully synthetic..
Why? Thinking that may of buggered up the seal? only thing is wouldnt that sieze the turbo up if it was too thick? Doesnt make much sense!

28-09-07, 18:04 GMT+10#11 Piss that oil off and put some penrite hpr30 in there and then pull all your cooler pipes off and clean them out.
Then unscrew the breathers from the rockercover and go for a drive. see how it goes.
Is the turbo return kinked by any chance.

What is this going to prove.. and no the oil return is fine?
Why would running thinner oil fix the problem.. and like i said before if it was clogged (as in the feed line which is braided) the turbo would starve of oil thus seizing the turbo!

28-09-07, 19:17 GMT+10#17 removeing the breathers will open the holes more allowing it to breath better.
thinner oil will alow it to flow faster

28-09-07, 19:20 GMT+10#18 still doesnt make much sense man.. the oil catch can is basically venting to atmosphere anyway.. you ARE right that thinner oil will flow faster through everything BUT like the photo suggests.. its spewing out oil everywhere! and it still runs fine on boost just blows smoke like a steam train!..

28-09-07, 19:30 GMT+10#20 If you open the breathers up it will drop the amount of oil pressure due to the rb30 using crankcase pressure to force oil up to the head, If the crankcase pressure is to exsesive you will blow smoke and blow seals.
