i dont know whether or not to convert my car to gas
its a calais turbo n its my daily so i would be saving heaps on petrol but i dont wanna lose any performance
yes ive read all the threads in this section n gas seems to be pretty good performance wise aslong as u go 2 someone who knows what theyre doing in my case id probably be going to rapid flow
but..
everyone i speak to they just laugh n say your gonna fcuk up your car n emberass urself
i dont wanna convert it n then be stuck with this slug lpg bucket
someone gimme some good advice
ps: dont bring up GAS-747 again..
we all know that this car is the icon for lpg vlts but hes spent thousands now im only a student with little or no money so try n be realistic

is ur car turbo or n/a?
either way if its done by somone who knows what theyre doing then it shouldnt be a slug and engine wear n **** wouldnt be an issue as the RB engines run on unleaded anyway...
a strait gas conversion will still set u back around $2-3k as theyre in high demand these days which hasnt helped prices

he said its a calais turbo
mate go straight gas if its done right u wont regret it, look at the likes of gas.747 and the silver berlina or exec that was on here...
im thinking bout doin it down the track as my VLT will be my daily as well when my license is back, but ill be doing a few other things first.

As long as its tuned properly you cant lose, gas has more octane remember

as stated gas has higher octane which means more boost with less to no detenation.... and if you have ever seen someone take the head of there gas engine there alot cleaner then petrol engines

any down side apart from installation costs n tuning?
also does anyone know when you get the 2gz grant back from the government? like how long after the conversion is done?

ppl used to make a big deal about increased engine wear (mainly valvetrain) but this was mainly in pre unleaded engines not coping do to not having lead to lubricate things.
and ppl always claim that gas is going to make heaps less power lol
none of which is true...
u will use a little more gas than petrol and ur engine will run a lil hotter, but if tuned correctly neither of these things will be much of an issue...
this was taken directly from the gas rebate website (http://www.ausindustry.gov.au)

I know that feeling bro, its a love/hate relationship.. love em when there going, as soon as something f*cks u you feel like bashing it lol
Yeh, there are some really good GAS cars that have just been build.. SUXGAS on this forum just went 10.8 @ 127 and LPG747 went 11.0 not sure on MPH.. Thats just on the VL Scene not to mention John's Orange mustang that went 10.3 @ 13X with massive comvertor issues launching at 2PSI kekeke
Most ppl are just scared of GAS which is understandible not as many people know a lot about it. But the fact people are out there giving it a go and running bl00dy good numbers means there is enough knowledge not to worry

25-09-07, 19:23 GMT+10#17 The lpg system that we use ( GAS 747, LPG 747, MUSTANG, ME ) isnt expensive at all, the kit is only worth 1500.
LPG 747 is a perfect example of a budget build, it retains a stock standard RB30 with a 818b camshaft, plain bearing T66, custom extractors, custom plenum, KEAS 3spd 450KW box. I think all up he spent 6800, but 3300 was the price of the box, the car make 310KW on 29psi, an he drives it absolutely everywhere.
If you dont really care how your bay looks, theres really no need to spend excess money on crome, braid, paint, custom brackets etc... my list is huge
