Im 99% sure it can be done, If they can do it to interceptors they could do it to a Calais International rim.
From what i know it isn't cheap, and i wouldn't let any backyard job take a hack at it If the balance is out gotta start again or dump 30 weights on there haha.
Possibly get in contact with your local performance business as they would know some contact details for who does this

The money you'll spend doing it may end up costing as much as a custom made set of Simmons. I know where i'd be spending the money.
Not that there's anything wrong with inter's.

Simmons would sh*t all over them strengthwise.
i read in street machine that Craig Munro's VX R8 "TRYHRD", has had its rims widened, to 10inchs?, i think it had something in the article about how or who did it. so if they can do his you may be in lucky, let us know. i will try and find the story. or send him an email http://www.hphero.com/
I already have a set of polished fr19's. Im just tossing up whether to sell them. For the money i could get a set of widened calais internationals with fat mickey thompson et streets and get the front half of my cage done. I already have a 4 point so just need the ront half even though its going to cost 1500. Im just tossing up what option would be better, its hard to sell polished fr19's, they look so good on the car.

the actually just use the face of the rim the outer bit of the rim the tire actaully attaches to is a whole new price of metal to simply a cut n shut sort of thing.
being a cast rim my guess would be it would weaken the rim cuting and widening it and it would also be pretty illegal without an engineers report, and IMO messing with something so important on the car is retarded

Mate, if you've already got polished FR19's (best wheel ever imo), you should just play the waiting game with the cage and just save a bit longer. You know that you'll regret it when you see someone rollin' past you with your old Simmons........or you could just do a swap with me for my OG Calais 15x6's.

Yeah ur not wrong, i would kick myself. I just thought that some fat internationals 9 or 10 inches wide with et streets would be pretty good on the street. But with a full spool probably wouldnt be the best to drive around corners as it would chirp, shudder and put heaps of strees on the diff, axles etc. Also theres no point having those wheels and tyres to fly around on the street as its stupid and not worth the risk to other drivers, and smashing a car ive spent so much time on.
Yea it can be done.. They did it to a APS built yellow VZ maloo if anybody saw this car.. It had the 19's widened to 11.5 inches with a 335/25/19
The following is just copied from a post by APS in one of the LS1 forums.
"They used the original rim cut in half with a Simmons inner section to whatever size you require. The company we used is The Mag Wheel Centre. Ask for Peter West"
