Thanks for the great comments chaps, Made another small batch, surprising to see how busy Winter was for a change, so am offering a limited number of Buddy Packs - where you get two fuserails with tools, accessory links, extra spades, more fuses etc Suits a family with a couple of VK, VL, VN, VP, or mates that trust each other to work on their cars (sif) Well at least get two done at once... Only doing a big discount for a limited time as I am in between contracts and pressure is now on me to move house and other contract is in negotiation, so you can clean me out before I set up another workshop in the near future elsewhere. So for moment get two rails with fuses for $149 plus post. Oh and BTW, am trialling a fuel injector flow bench and looking to offering injector matching/testing service for those of you in Perth... ps: For those that have asked, that uprated RB30 ignition driver worked real well, got 9.5L/100Kms driving from Perth to Esperance and back some 1500Kms total with driving rain with a VLT on 10psi and ulp. Pre-production trials coming so will want to find people in Perth who have good records of fuel economy - ie Odometer/Litres/Date/Type of Fuel/Where etc ? So we can do comparative trials... Cheers

Nicely done. I'm a bit undecided on the looks department though (all good, but seeing circuit board when you go to look a fuses just doesnt appeal to me, but i'm sure that a suitable cover could easily be made). How long did it take you to concieve/make that board ? How much did it cost you ? Any wiring diagrams in case electrically inclined people on here want to take a crack themselves ?? Also, i have moved this topic for you into the right section Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

hrmmm Not to shabby. Did you design the circuit yourself?

Thats preety impressive work Mike M Thanks for taking the time to show us all. Mick

Very nice  I reakon i'd buy one if you made some up, or even just the board itself without the components Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Looks pretty straight forward. Youve given me some ideas with the LED thing! i might design my own with PC Interfacing for troubleshooting.... seriously, it might be a fun (but useless) project! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I'm a bit undecided on the looks department though (all good, but seeing circuit board when you go to look a fuses just doesnt appeal to me, but i'm sure that a suitable cover could easily be made). Well, this thing is under the normal black plastic cover for the most part. The earlier pic is without fuses, so it might appear a bit misleading, but this one looks a bit more complete:- http://members.iinet.net.au/~erazmus/car_accessories/sm_mounted.JPG I suppose I could ask for a different colour like midnight blue instead of green for the solder mask if it ever gets to some production level <sigh> >How long did it take you to concieve/make that board ? How much did it cost you ? All up it took a w/end to measure/draft/check and do circuit board artwork plus the cost of PCB tooling say around $500. in outgoings plus time. The pic on this link:- http://members.iinet.net.au/~erazmus/car_accessories/sm_melted.JPG was rather more compelling for me to go to the trouble to replace it - afaik, this one was already replaced once before 8O and thats before higher rated headlamps were used ops: >Any wiring diagrams in case electrically inclined people on here want to take a crack themselves ?? Sure, though most of it is based on extract from wiring diagram I found in the back of the turbo supplement workshop manual, and I have a protel schematic I'd have to convert to HPGL then to PDF - low on my priority but if someone wants a board then I can prepare a specific .PDF just for the fuse rail with LEDs. >Also, i have moved this topic for you into the right section OK, no problems, Have added a few more pictures and they are on the same link:- http://members.iinet.net.au/~erazmus/car_accessories/ so might need to press reload/refresh to see them, :? The whole unit actually comprises 6 boards, made up of main unit, brace underneath and 4 right angle support boards and all made from non-standard 2.4mm double sided plated through material for maximum strength and current carrying capacity When Ive got the thing fully tested and worked out details I'll have a better idea of what it costs, Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

So its probably only worthwhile if ones really damaged like this one:- http://members.iinet.net.au/~erazmus/car_accessories/sm_melted.JPG But hey, thats less than a quote I got from an autoelectrician of $135 plus parts for something else really basic. I guess if you ever get one, you'll want a transparent cover instead of that boring black thing, I agree - no jokes about curtains, Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Cheers, Chris Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I have detailed pics of the wiring schematics for everything in the VL. Engine, air con/heater, central locking, power windows, elec mirrors, cruise control, external lights, internal lights, transmission, elec windows, dash. 11 detailed pics taken from a Commodore workshop book. Anyone needs them let me know. Or even if CT would want them on the site for future reference?

Cheers, Chris <cough> Well yes, I did actually think about that and a wired 'or' beeper for audible indication too, but some people out there are colour blind so a single red led is ok and the support circuitry needed for dual colour for all 20 fuses gets a bit too expensive - but hey if someone wants me to design one, no problems - just be prepared for an engineering charge And yeah, I'll happily PM you, wanna place an order ? *grin* Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
