My car is currently defected and din't pass inspection. It is an RB30e+T running 8psi. Went through inspection at Recency(Adelaide) and was told that I would need a IM240 Emmisions Test before the defect could be cleared. The test costs around $500 and there is no guarantee I will pass. I'm sure i would pass as it still runs vlt ecu and injectors but just to be safe I'm going to pull off all the turbo gear. I have 444cc GTR injectors, Bosch 040 fuel pump, Microtech LTX8 ecu and malpassi requlator sitting in the shed which I never got around to putting on. If I pull off all the turbo gear, I'm not going to go to all the trouble of putting it back on unless I put all the stuff in the shed on instead. The problem is the stock vlt t03 will probably end up being the weak link in the chain. The injectors and fuel pump should easily support 200-250kw with a good tune on the LTX8. The stock t03 on the other hand will be at its limits or close to it. I would like to get something better that should be able to make that power easily eg. t03/t04 or t04 or gt35 but i'm thinking that it might be a bit over the top. Does anyone have any suggestions on what turbo i should get. Don't really want to spend much. $600-$800 at most. I've seen the monsta turbo's on ebay and have been told they are **** but they do come with 12 month warranty and the car would only get driven on some weekends. Any suggestions on what I should get? Should also be able to still use standard manifold and preferably the oil & water lines that I have on there now (custom). cheers George

Hiflowing my current turbo will be around $1000-1200 at Adelade Turbo Services so not really an option. There is a gt35 off an xr6 on ebay for $1000 but I'm thinking that's going overboard. Remember its an RB30e+T so can't run too much boost.

Spike has the exact turbo off an XR6 and he had it running 20 pounds for a while.... If you can source it for 1k I would take it

I have had good results and found the KKR units to be reliable, I also think there is a brand buying the exact same units and selling them as TTR or something for less money. The KKR430 would suit your needs perfectly and is about $850, its new, reliable, reputable, proven, and should be spot on for 250rwkw, we have made 360-370rwhp on stock internal RB25's with 15-18 psi of boost. The VL bottom end isnt a weak engine at all. They are pretty much as tough as nails.... Unless you do something really dumb like lean it out too much it wont be that big of an issue. If you want to be on the safe side I guess you can decompress, I read somewhere that some of these race engines are running 8.5:1 compression ratio anyways.

Sure the bottom end is fine, its the amount of boost implied to 20psi for the standard 9:1 compression... I'd be interested to know what boost such configuration could handle without going much above 98 octane,
