Sometime between 12:30am and 8am on Saturday morning (8/9/07) Somebody took my N/A berlina from my front lawn. No signs of broken glass or anything around where it sat.
The car is marlin blue, has 16 inch mags with almost brand new tyres on them, cars lowered on king spring lows and a disc rear end. The interior is a grey berlina in immac condition, car had about 146,000kms on the clock.
The car had a pioneer headunit (although they didn't get the face), kenwood 4 inch front speakers, Soundstream tarantula 6x9's in grey pods on a MDF parcel shelf and two clarion 12 inch subs in one box powered by a clarion amp.
Pictures can be seen in the thread in my sig.
Car is in very good condition and will definately stand out if spotted.
If anybody knows of anything don't hesitate to call on [phone removed], email, PM or post in this thread.
Such a shame to see this car gone after how much time, money and work I have put into it. The car was booked in to have the alarm installed early next week too.
Edit, don't know if it helps but the rego was UKV-010 and it was stolen from Allenby Gardens on the westside of town.

Hey mate, Luckily I did have 3rd party, fire and theft. So if it doesn't show up in 14 days, then I should get some money out of it. None of the mods were covered though, but the insurance evaluator should be able to work something out.
I just can't believe how they managed to reverse off the grass, do a sharp right angle turn, out the driveway and not hit anything with wheelspin, yet not wake anyone up even though my mum was sleeping in a room with a window about a metre away from where it was parked, and I was just a couple rooms over.

not good to hear you were close to getting an alarm, every VL should at least have a kill switch from the fuel pump fuse made up. At least you got insurance i suppose, they probably pushed it down the street then started it. Hopefully they are only joyriders and dump it somewhere if i see that plate on east side i will let you know. Best of luck

Cheers guys, hope I get it back or I will probably get a vr/vs, something that wont go missing so easily and I can park anywhere without being so worried.
The insurance company got me a loan car today, a 07 corolla. So atleast I have transport for now.
Lets keep our fingers crossed...

Make sure you dispute what they offer you for it assuming its not recovered...if it was mint with low kms etc make sure you reinforce that point or the assessor will screw your ass to the wall and try to say that you can get something similar for $1500.......
Sorry to hear man.

19-09-07, 17:50 GMT+10#10 Well they found the car last Wednesday. Stereo gone, half of the dash pulled apart, the horn pad off the wheel, seat covers, service books, spare wheel and a few other bits and pieces stolen. Mags were still on the car and it doesn't look like they have done any burnouts. They got into it with a screw driver then pulled out the ignition barrel to start it.
Aside from a few scratches (which the insurance company are fixing) there wasn't any body damage. Haven't heard it run yet so hoping they didn't thrash it too much.
Car is being repaired and I should have it back by the 2nd of next month. Then I'll figure out if I wan't to keep it or not.

28-09-07, 19:58 GMT+10#12 Picked up the car today. A couple of panels resprayed, looks like they replaced most of the dash, took some small dents out, replaced the locks and gave it a decent detail, looks like they cut & polished and waxed it too.
Just need to get a stereo together and we're good to go.
Not really a success story but I spose its as good as they get

The same fingerprints kept showing up on a hole heap of cars. There was some bloke who had been convicted of something similar before so I think they payed him a visit. Found something like 10 stolen cars in his back yard.
Apparently he was running a back yard chop-shop. He was on parole so they said he has a minimum sentence of 3.5 years before all the car thefts come into it. Gonna be put away for a while I think.
