my driving instructor told me to adjust my seat and mirrors before starting a car LOLL, change the oil and oil filter would be my guess coz oil thats been just sitting ther cant be good for the engine, double check that nothing got under the head while it was off dirt and **** like that, not sure if they would harm it but i wouldnt risk it, double check what ever you took off went back on (common sence but we all make mistakes)

I heard you put it on the starter motor for about 15-20 secs before firing it up - but I dont know just sounds logic!

^^ that would be looking for oil pressure, an RB30 should get oil pressure pretty quickly the old coil off and crank trick was more for oldschool engines i think? Is 6 months too long for a fresh engine to sit around? Will the rings have begun to expand in the bores already, causing heaps of blow bye issues?

That's what willy told me, he said that they can start to bed in over long periods of time on their own- which is bad bad because they won't seal properly obviously.

if u didnt oil the bores before closing the engine up, it aint going to be a healthy motor..

Don't worry about it at all, the bores would have been oiled when the pistons were installed, nothing in the motor should be anything to worry about. I have seen at least 50 import engines that haven't run for sometimes 2-3 years fire into life, blow smoke for a few minutes then some go on to make over 400hp at the tires the following days. I wouldn't oil the bore, I'd get some CRC and pull the plugs out, spray the bores with that, with the little red tube thing on the nozzle and direct it at the walls of the bore. Turn the motor over by hand to a few spots so you get all of the bore, don't fill the thing up with it FFS, whatever you do, just give it a squirt here and there. Pull the dizzy lead off so it won't start and crank it over for a good 20-30 seconds, then put the lead on and fire it up, watch the oil pressure comes straight up, if it takes more than 3-5 seconds I'd shut it off and try and get oil pressure up, but I doubt you'll have any problems at all. LAst thing to do is change the oil and filter after 20 minutes of running as this will have flushed out all the crap from machining and everything thats built up in there since you left it sitting. 6BOOST

do you have to do any test's like we had to do with our 454, we had to like keep it at 2000 rpm for like 20 mins for cooling testing and more little tests like that, gl with it man Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
