hey guys i have some 6.5 inch speakers that i want to mount in the front..but the problam is that the mounting depth for the speakers is massive...something like 3-4 inches...and i cant cut into the door coz of the electric window(havent been game to cut it out)...so i was wondering wat ur thoughts are of moutning them..i was goina use vr/s speaker pods but i dont know if they will take 6.5..so yeah any ideas would be greatly appreshiated
Make some spacers from wood and wrap them in vinyl or some speaker carpet, my type r splits sat in the doors lovely and didnt affect my windows at all and they just had some simple wood spacers about 1 1/2 inch thick.
Otherwise you can buy some VR pods for your doors from a wrecker or something. OR pay big $$$ and have some customer speaker pods made up for you by a stereo shop.
Or you could have a go yourself, a mate of mine made some ones from wood and fibreglass, he sanded them all back so they were rounded and smooth then painted them with 2pack or something and they looked top notch! Either way theres tonnes of other articles on this site about door pods so have a search and see what you come up with...
good luck.

mate supercheap auto have 6.5 inch door pods for splits, there about 60$ and i think they look pretty good. your in WA so should be able to pick em up easy
if u dont want to cut into ur door panels at all u need friggin big pods. i didnt want to cut into mine and the pods are bout 4inches thick without the speaker. they friggin stick out alot. u get use to just moving ur leg in a bit more than usual when getting in and out

MB Quart's are more then double that price.
The VS Door Pods would work, since the speaker comes further out and would give you that extra room you require. Head down to your local wrecker with the speaker and a tape measure, Nothing better then getting it right the 1st time
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
check out my thread on "speaker wire lengths" (SIroller)
i did my mb 6.5"s in vs doorpods with mdf spacers and detail the method in nthat thread, on another note dont worry about the wires, just be careful its pretty easy not to cut the wires.
