Well, dare I say it - its a wiring fault, just need to trace it through, so will need the wiring diagram, a multimeter and some patience, pretty much in that order too...

happened with mine brad when i chucked the manual ECU from the SL we got the gearbox out of, mine would only start every so often then one day dad was supposed to come pick me up in it and it wouldnt start, EFI Relay not working no lights on the ECU were on turned out the ecu had been sitting with water in it for a while and was pretty much stuffed so chucked the old auto ECU in and runs fine now see if u can just borrow an ECU and make sure it isnt actually the unit itself...... I didnt think u had a stock ECU in urs?

reverse polarity relay (silver one) alongside battery powers injectors and ecu etc. check that. also the s1/s2 4 pin plug in the harness above the alternator is different pinout between series, if you have changed engines or something. check that also.

Check the fuseable links along the positive battery lead, just after where the lead hooks onto the positive battery terminal. Sometimes they can get wet, get old and corroded, or just **** themselves. The connections could just be buggered. I know the two orange wires that run the positive battery terminal have something to do with the ECU getting power. Without them connected, the ECU won't run. Check all your battery connections, sometimes a wire or two can come loose and disconnect itself from the terminal or just break off, and can wreck the whole car... Been through that problem too many times myself.
