hi to the forum
my first post and i am looking to buy a vl turbo, so i wonder wots the best motor?
i would imagine the R20 and R25 would be a stronger and higher perfromance donk than the R30?
i would also guess that the R25 with more capacity = more power and even though you can get more from the R20 with more boost, you will stress the motor and get less life!
but then i gues the R20 is lighter? and if you drive it easy, with be more economical?
any thoughts?

rb20=boat anchor
rb25= very smooth,high reving,my personal fav
rb30=lots of torque,feels like its a dinosaur compared to rb25.

rb20 = sh1te, produces crap all power when highly modified.
rb25 = The new and improved, goes like a zertec, miles ahead of the RB30.
rb30 = for the VL lovers.
rb26 = LOL.

the rb 25 with more capacity is a rb 26 or 30 lol

personally. I wouldnt touch anything else besides a RB30 UNLESS - your looking at a 26.

25det - great street engine, smooth and refined
30det - heaps of torque down low compared to the others, doesn't rev very well, lots of big end power but very unrefined
26det - expensive, hard to fit in a VL, incredibly costly to rebuild, sounds great, makes huge power, rev's hard

28-08-07, 12:39 GMT+10#13 Im currently finishing off the mods on my R32', i can tell you now if big power is your plan then stay clear of the rb20.
Ive done all the bolt on stuff (injectors, computer, fuel pump, gcg highflow turbo, full turbo back 3'inch exhaust, FMIC, splitfires, pod, etc etc etc) and judging by what other owners have pulled with similar mods, I doubt i will even crack the 200rwkw mark, even on high-ish boost.
I mean its a quick street car, but she'l never be an animal unless you go for the extensive mods (forged rebuild, high mount turbo, cams, yada yada yada)
Wack those same mods on an rb25 or rb30 and see the power figures shoot way UP!

rb20 useless in a vl just a boat anchor, rb25 good power easy to upgrade and get parts for. rb30 great toque , alot of aftermakrte support
its all down to personal choice

28-08-07, 17:37 GMT+10#19 mine with similar mods (minus highflow turbo, splitfires and retune+boost as this is being done in the shop at the moment) ran a 14.1 with 158rwkw on baldish street tires.
They are still boat anchors tho, go rb25 if possible.
