Engine keeps reving when the throttle is released

Just as a bit of info, I am running a GRA throttle body, front mount (no blow off valve) and a single B2 converter. What happened is, I put in a turbo smart single stage boost controller and wound in 10psi, but found that when I released the throttle at that boost pressure and pushed in the clutch, the revs went up way past redline by itself then dropped back down again. After checking the throttle cable for sticking, I thought it was the boost controller so I tried a mates turbotech one that works fine and still got the same problem. The funny thing is I have never had any problem like this on the stock 6psi? can anyone tell me what's going on here, because im sure a few guys here don't run a BOV with their setup, and have boost higher then 10psi. Has any one experianced a turbo'd GRA setup that keeps revving when the throttle is released under full boost? all I can think of is I need a BOV to release the pressure and remove blow by ??? but why does other peoples work without one.... any ideas

sounds like your throttle is sticking under boost it's a common problem try putting a return spring on the trottle body

Blow off Valve will not fix it, the throttle butterfly needs to be closed for BOV to work. My old calais had the same trouble at @ 15psi (until it was stolen) Use the return spring

my cars also doing this. never happened untill i fitted the front mount and now have no bov, also running 11.7psi. put my foot on the clutch during boost and the revs pick up about another 300rpm. but mines not on gas yet. sorry for invading the post just letting you know mine never did it with the bov and since removed it's started doing it. cheers. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I had this problem was ok for with the stock spring for about 200rwhp on my patrol then got it dyno'd and ran 14psi 350rwhp and would stay open every time for a gear change and rev the car few hundred past redline so i put another spring to help close the TB and it worked perfectly and haven't got any probs now.. I ran a BOV and no BOV and that's not the prob by the way it's the above^^^ Rick.

So it's time to look at some bigger springs. Funny thing is the stock throttlebody felt mush weaker but people seem to run much higher boost with them,no worries. Do you have any pics of how your springs are attached? or where did you get a bigger spring from?

I had problems still with a second spring untill i just cut it down a bit shorter to add that more tension to it .. I took a pic for ya so u will kinda get a idea were to fit etc.. In regards to finding a spring i just found this one at home it's nothing special just get a spring workshop or somwere or maybe u have one? Well i hope that helped let me know how u go.. Rick. EDIT: Also the way i could tell me spring was to weak was top gear doing say 100 and put ya foot down kind hard then back off completely and it should take a second or so before it does start to back off like it's delayed becuase the amount of air gas etc going thru it keeps it open because the stock spring wasn't designed for boost and is to weak. Beautiful !! I was thinking you put another spring in like the stock GRA one, the standard type tension springs are easy to find. What you described is exactly what was happening, hopefully once i fit a new spring there will be no over run on boost. Thanks for the pic mate Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
