Hey guys, sorry about the crap thread but i left something on in my car and my battery died but when i tried to jumpstart it from a mates car it'd make the usual noises but didn't want to tick over and start, tried for ages, doesn't even cough and splutter just makes the usual sound before it starts. Would this be my alternater, is it gone or could it be someone else cause if my battery was completely screwed it would do nothing and it would've started when running through my mates car wouldn't it? Thanks guys, need to get back on the road.

Few reasons why you cant jump start from another car such as still not getting enough volts to your starter motor and solenoid:- a. Corroded or high resistance joint on the ground connection from engine block to battery negative. b. Too much voltage drop between mates car and yours due to bad leads and/or not running engine on mates car when trying to start. c. Bad contacts in solenoid/starter etc Got a multimeter ?
