History
first bought from Reg Hunt Holden by Coles Myer in 1986 as a company car for a store manager, this car did 40,000 city km before being sold on.
the second owner was a bank executive who owned the car until 1990. he ran the car to 100,000km and sadly parked the car outside on the street causing a build up of leaves and water resulting in rear window rust.
the third owner bought the car in 1990 from Reg Hunt first things they did were -
dashmat,
external rear window suncover
gas
tinted windows
they then continued to run the car for 4 years as an everyday work car. it did country km and was always garaged at night. regular services were carried out by the owner as well as general maintenance by local workshops. the car has a towpack and stationwagon springs fitted at some point around here. after the 4 years were up, the wife became a stay at home mum and the car didn't even get driven to work!
i bought the car in early 2007 with 390,000km on the clock. it still has the original reg hunt sticker in the engine bay but along the way the coles myer sticker was lost. The most attractive thing about this car was and is the originality excellent condition of interior and body (for it's age) and full history associated with the car.
shorts:
within 3 weeks of my owning the car it sustained rear end damage when a careless driver hit me from behind, this was the result -
http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x...r/P1010029.jpg
the damage saw me get defected and also gave me an excuse to pull down the entire car. at this repair stage it got all of the asteroid silver replaced / resprayed, new carpet soundproofing and a soundsystem.
the car was made ready for the street commodores cruise for charity number 4 and did a few other shows at that time, (spring car nationals and numurkah show us ya wheels)
since that major rebuild it has just been a process of doing bits and pieces one at a time. (this is my daily driver and i am a uni student, meaning no money and no time to pull it off of the road.)
FUTURE PLANS -
short term - fit 1" master cylinder.
repaint and fit VKC bootmould and taillamp surround
repaint + new sticker on vlc garnish
new front bumper centre and drivers side
replace wiring harness for rear taillights (have one sitting at home)
fit turbo inlet manifold and fuel rail
replace blocked injector
long term - stock A8 turbo setup with JDC piping (like two89's old BT1) GKTech no holes intercooler kit, JDC chrome radiator shroud and a manual box.
lower and firmer suspension and shockers with thicker swaybars and an adjustable panhard rod
updated brake system including vt hubs, discs and calipers (first stage has already been started with the VLT booster fitted and the 1" master in the build)
some form of larger rims and tidied up bodywork.
this is my vision for my ultimate vl, enough power, a nice soundsystem, and all the luxury you need in old age. i hope that this car will see me well into retirement but as we all know with a car thats already 22 years old it's going to be a battle to make it last until tommorow!
thanks to - My father and my mates, all the boys on here who have sold me parts and everyone who supports me and / or answers my occasional tech questions. also big thanks to Travis at Stylin car audio in Bentliegh who supplied and fitted the alarm and pager, all my audio wiring and the mb quartz speakers
see you on the road!
- Mitcham

sorry tim i really appreciate the help you gave me pulling those bits out but i think the hard lesson about other road users has hit home. i have owned my full history / no accidents vl for 18 months and since then it has had 2 near write offs the second happening about 3 weeks ago and i am still waiting to get it repaired.
hence i have decided that i cannot put more blood sweat and tears into my car just to see it hit again. (i was up and down for 2 weeks after the last accident and it was so bad i couldn't even wash my car as i couldn't stand looking at it in the state it was in) so anyway this car will be my neat daily transport and i have began my search for a vlt.
must be vlt plated
must be in good nic
must not be a calais
prefferably (but not exclusively) a vlt mx7 plated berlina series 2 red interior with silverslate over asteroid paint. yeah i know this is never going to happen but hey we can dream. it will have a gk tech no holes, reco rocker cover polished intake mani and heatshields and some headwork. add a vt brake upgrade and a set of venetians (stock interior and soundsystem) and i will have an awesome weekend warrior and showcar. (not autosalon type, flemington all holden day type or euroa / numurkah carshows.
looking good brother .. i must say tho .. bad thing come in 3's champ so watch out for the 3rd one ..
front of the cars looking cleaner than mine

Fair enough Mitch. You can do everything right in the world, build the car perfect, drive perfect, and in the end - one trip through Footscray is all it takes.

thats it, both times the car has been hit iv been in the right, first time i had stayed at work longer and then hit up southland for groceries to avoid peak hour traffic then ended up being rammed from behind,
second time i was watching the woman and saw her pull through the sign, slammed on barkes, didn't lock, didnt slide, couldn't go anywhere else due to traffic / traffic islands hit her at minimal speed and still did enough damage to upset me!
