hey guys. just wondering if this was a good buy. got an mx7 box with the shifter and custom one peice tailshaft for $1,000. was it worth it?
also i'm changing from an mf5 to the mx7. will i only need to get a speedo drive ontop of what i already have? i know the mx7 flywheel and clutch are larger, but i was wondering if it would be alright if i were to just use the mf5 flywheel and clutch? thanks for any info you can provide. cheers.

yeah sounds orite. if i were u i wld use the mx7 flywheel and clutch as teh flywheel is larger = more friction area

would also mean more weight though. that's the only thought i had though, larger clutch flywheel = more to grab. but i've about people using r33 box's saying that your better off with the mf5 flywheel size as it's a more common size and you can get better clamping clutch's. basically i just want to know if it would be alright using the mf5 ckutch and flywheel for size wise, would it matter about having a gap around it?
so i should be able to just drop my box and tailshaft and put these ones in? will the starter fit up? cheers.

R33 box runs a 9.5 inch flywheel/clutch which is the same as the vl n/a (where the vl turbo runs a 10inch).
The starter will fit up if you keen the 9.5inch flywheel. otherwise if you source a 10inch flywheel/clutch you'll need the starter to go with it.

the differance between turbo and non turbo clutch kit is 10mm turbo is 250mm and the non turbo is 240mm and if you with the 250mm yes you do need the starter motor as well ,Im going through the exersice my self for my skyline oh by the way the clutch brand dakin( jap brand ) is the maker of Exedy clutch kit the ( jap brand for the Aussie market)

think i'll just leave it with the 9.5" and get myself a cushioned button clutch. so dakin is exedy? are they any cheaper when there labelled as dakin? cheers.

im pretty sure that the mx7 is gonna have different number of spline on the input shaft, so you couldnt use an mf5 clutch.

sweet. well at least it woulda been. ended of being a confusion so i missed out oh well. i'll just stick with the mf5 and see how long it'll last. i'm worried though if i put in a heavier clutch then standard on the mf5, being turbo and all. would the gearbox still hold? or would that actually be better for the box? cheers.
