Hey guys im halfway through a EFI 5 Litre Conversion into my HZ Tonner. The 5 litre came out of a VQ Stato. Basically the engine and gearbox is bolted in the tonner, power steering pump, alternator etc are all bolted in, im up to the ugly part---wiring I am interested to see if anyone has done this conversion without the aid of the 400 dollar pre-made looms you can buy. Thats something i didn't budget for lol. I have the VQ's entire loom in 4 parts - LH Cabin Part (Goes to ECU) LH Engine bay part (Half the engine management) RH Cabin Part (Dash, Heater/AC, Lights, interior fuse box/relays etc.) RH Engine bay part (Exterior Fuse box/relays, headlight plugs, and the other half of the engine management) What i want to know is what do you do to get rid of the unecessary circuits ie. headlights etc. And how would you adapt the VQ ignition wiring to the hz ignition switch? Thanks in advance Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

errr yeah that wire....! get yourself a GOOD wiring diagram for starters and unless you can read them and know what your doing, i wouldnt attempt it cos you may cause more problems than you can solve!!! my mate did the same thing in a HJ ute and he had a mate that helped him and also you have a statesman loom... there may be more wires than a normal loom out of an exec!! good luck!!

Yeah get yourself a GOOD wiring diagram for both vehicles then draw what goes where out on paper before you start cutting!

yeh im doing a 93 stato efi v8 to a vl calais and i have three mates that are auto electricians and they all looked at and ran a mile, so i ended up doing most of it myself using the vl and vn wiring diagrams and some help from a mate who did silvia 4cyl turbo into lc 2dr torana. but good luck hope you have plenty of beer in the fridge cos you will need it !

Ive droped a injected 5l into a VK of mine, the wirring took me under a days work and fired 1st go, what i done was go the VN V8 loom stipped it apart and worked out what wires i was goin to use, eg air con etc. if you get a wirring diagram it will make things alot more easyer.

Most of it is not too bad, I've put an injected V8 into a VL carby V8 body, the main wires you'll have to worry about is the fuel pump wiring, speed sensor, power feeds to the engine loom, hook up some type of engine light and a few other things that i cant think of right now.
