I have got myself a jaycar electronic boost controller thats just about ready to go in (just trying to source a boost solenoid). Firstly, just wanna know if ayone else is or has run one in their vlt before and how you thought it is/was? What I need to know is if anyone has a ecu diagram to point out the injector wires that run to the computer as I need to tap into the 'switched injector wire'. Or would I be better off running a wire out to closer to the injectors?.

for a boost solenoid, get one off an r33 skyline gtst, head over to sau forums. as for injector wire, on the plug that has the larger wires on it at ecu, you can use any of the 6 wires that pulse the injectors for a signal. colours of injector wires (just use one, doesn't matter what one) are, plain red, red/black, red/white, red/violet, red/green, red/blue.

Awesome... champion, cheers

I'm going to get one of these eventually myself, I built the hand controller a while ago. I like the way it controls boost based on load (128 points between 0-5 volts on the AFM) and not just revs, so that when you want to squeeze the accelerator a small amount, say out of a second gear corner, you don't necessarily get full boost because of where the revs are but rather how far you have your foot down. Seems unbeatable for the money...even double it

they are mapped against injector duty cycle, not directly from an engine load sensor.

Yeah thats the reason I bought it. I was originally looking for an EBC of some kind and read up on these and nothing beats it... Nothing else even controls boost the same...

Is the solenoid proportional by any chance or strictly on/off (ie Bang bang Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

how you mean exactly? Its controlled by the IEBC and is sent a signal to pulse based on the injector load. It is either fully closed (not allowing any boost to reach the wastegate at all) or its pulsed open slightly (depending on what you set it at)

Nothing else even controls boost the same... Except the integrated closed loop boost control in my Haltech E11 . I've also setup a road speed sensor so boost is restricted to 10psi (as opposed to 15psi normally) in first gear.....helps keep tyre smoke to a minimum. Admittedly, not a real fair comparision though.......big difference in price between the two. My guess is the jaycar unit works similar to the boost control in my haltech (and the same as most factory ecu's) in that the solenoid operates at a fixed frequency (prob. about 30Hz) and the duty cycle is changed between 0-100% Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

yeah as above, its fixed frequency, think its 50hz from memory (might have been 100? anyway), can be changed to different frequency, but the default work with most valves. if you drop the duty cycle down, it does chatter the valve, but if you raise the value it goes quiet, so i assume its hovering in a mid position.

So has anyone got one of these on their vl?
