Hey Guys, I am after some advice from those who have smoothed their engine bays around the strut tower. I have had mixed reactions with possible cracking if bogged and weakened around the welds if welded. I would like to know who have bogged theirs how they done it and have they had any cracking issues. help would be greatly appreciated as i need to make some decisions ASAP.

I filled in mine with fine putty and top quality bog and its ended up with a hairline crack just where the join is of the lip. You cant even notice it unless it was pointed out. And it aint getting any worse so im happy with it. Next time i might try filling it in with lead or something.

I had mine bogged, use as little as possible, and a good quality filler not some cheap crap. I used Septone filler, after 3 years and plenty of drag racing and circuit racing there were only a couple of very small cracks. Ive just finished painting the engine bay again and did the same to fix the little cracks.

lead is the only way . takes an old school beater to do a job like this . like the old days when there was no bog . lead wiping is what its called , i think

Lead is not the only way, I used a combination of KandH Filler and Motorspray fine putty and it has not cracked at all.

i used a fibreglass paste called FIBRAL , works fantastic , no cracking , no sink back , no pin holes , and its copped plenty of drag racing and thrashing Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Im assuming you mean were the strut tower meets the engine bay, its joined with a brushed on sealer. All I did was sand the sealer back smooth and primed it with 2k primer. no cracks. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
