hey. im not getting the VT engine after what you all told me :P im now going to get an ls1 conversion. will cost about 13500 thats including getting the engine bay painted the same colour as the car. engine out of a vx clubbie - dont 73000 kms. also getting a auto box. i have a choice either get the original auto or a seperate box with a high stall. What would be better? is there any main benifets of getting the high stall? anyway the box and the motor for 4200 and ill list the prices of the conversion that i was going to get for the VT - wich according to the mechanic is the same, only a bit more, work with converting it to a Vt 5lt or a gen3. Whats your thoughts. K Frame V8 300 Tailshaft 450 Bellhousing VT 450 Radiator 550 Shroud & electric fans 150 Power steering lines 60 Modify battery (in boot) 200 Diff (28 spline axles LSD change gears) 1100 Front brake upgrade master cylinder & brake booster 1100 Front suspension 100 Rear pads & rotors 500 Second hand calipers, brackets, handbrake cable 150 Labour fit motor & gearbox, upgrade brakes, modify fuel lines 1500 _____ 6610 pricing seems ok?

Post up some pics as soon as you can man, sounds good, but a little hard to believe that the LS1 doesn’t cost much more than a Holden V8 conversion

Sounds pretty good, where are you getting the parts from? Castlemain rod shop do the kits but not all of them are the same and may require customization. Don't forget a custom extractors and exhaust are needed.

Sounds good mate, but i can guarantee it doesnt cost $13,000 to put a VT 5.0 in a VL.

i would definately get a higher then standard stall as the gen 3's lack bottom end torque for what they are. they have taller then usual intake runners which contributes to the high RPM HP they love to make. Stall speed also depends on what you want to do with the motor? Bigger cam would need a higher stall, then that would mean extractors, exhaust as well as raise in diff gears (if its anything under 3.45). You'll also need a trans cooler to help keep the trans cool, just been told the 2800 stall in my car can increase trans temp by 20 degrees celcius, and we all know heat is the trans' number one enemy. Let us know exactly what you want out of the car and we can be more specific cause the conversion sounds good and you'd definately want the most out of it
