hi guys, is it possible to remove headrests from front seats? if it is possible the plan is to remove my s1 calais headrests and put some vk sl headrests or something similair in, maybe even some scheel headrests trimmed up (there are some scheel style foams on ebay atm) i had a try at the wreckers today, couldn't see how to do it without breaking anything. cheers for any help!

Yes i've dont it, you need a large screwdriver to gently push some of the cloth/foam out of the way and a small sharp screwdriver to release the spring clip (one on each side) - this bit is a bit tricky because the recess for the spring clip has sharp edges and its quite difficult to locate just where it is by feel but, with patience and care it can be done It also helps to have a mate supply upward force on the headrest so that when you feel where the clip is with the small screwdriver then it can pop one side up at a time, when i did mine there was no-one else around and jammed a telephone book between seat and headrest ! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I have a pair of light blue VK Calais headrests in my VLCT Series 1, ie The VLC Series one had the open plastic style, the Series two had the cloth closed type and had height adjusters as well, so prob be better off getting complete Series 2 seats though the headrest change was worth it for me Edit: Found some old pictures when I did this, just shrunk them a bit and put them up here:- http://niche.iinet.net.au/VL_Technical/ All prefixed with "Headrest" see the one with the circlip in the hole, about 1.5" down... Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Otherwise the seat will need to be stripped to get access to the clips that hold it into place...

no no, You can be a bit brutal by pushing the foam/cloth down with one hand quite hard whilst fiddling the small screwdriver to catch hold of the lip of the clip and when you have you maintain pressure towards the centre of the spike whilst your friend pulls up on the headrest. Once you have located the edge of the circlip then its a lot easier from there.
