Hey guys, Just putting a few fluros in my boot. I have 3 of them. I have the wires that connect to the original bootlight. Can i use this wire to power all of them in series or parallel? Whats the best way to go about wiring them up?

ill save you a bit of time mate, put them in the bin nahh, but seriously fluro lights use less current than carbide globes so series should be fine, but id be running a new line to the boot with a larger gage wire just to be sure.

wire em up in a parallel circuit, then if one stuffs up, the others will still work

Put them in the bin hey! Nah i need something to light up behind the perspex and at night would look pretty good. Whats the difference between wiring them up in series or parallel as far as amps drawn or brightness is concerned?

As more electrical loads are connected to a series circuit, the total resistance rises causing current to drop, so if anything the fluros will be duller if wired in series.

ahhh, straining memory, but pretty sure they will draw the same amount of amps either way, but if in parallel will be of an evener brightness than opposed to series. i wouldnt worry about parallel though, just extra wire, if you tap a bigger wire in the cabin and run that to the boot it should be fine in series. but like i said before they shouldnt draw alot of amps cause there only small.

You'll want to run a new positive cable or when you crank your music they will fade with the beat (which looks tacky) (run it off the amp power but fuse it at 15 amps of course to avoid a fire) You can use the standard earth, it's negative switching anyway so thats handy. definitely paralell, as vl30et said, in series they won't be very bright at all. and ffs hide them well man! Neon glow on your amps looks awesome but make sure the tubes themselves aren't visible. looks cheap as if they are Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

It wouldnt be any extra wire, you only need one positive lead and branch it off to each light, then earth each light to the original earth

Ok, as the battery is in the boot and the power cable goes directly to the amps, ill run a + from where the + hits an amp. Then run the + to that boot switch that turns the lights off when the boot is shut. Then run them parallel from there. Also ill put a 15amp fuse in there? Sound good?

yeah sounds good, obviously put the fuse between the + and the switch. check the required amperage of the lights to work out what size fuse to use, if it doesnt say just try a 15A. or you could run + to fuse to lights, then have the switch on the earth side, like the original set up

Just run them all from the boot light wires, you wont need to fuse it as it will already be fused. And if you find it isn’t getting enough power (Tho it will) use a relay.. Do you realise if u run a + from your battery to the trigger for the boot light, your boot light will stay on all the time..
