im guessing your mate has an aftermarket ecu, your car will not run well without an afm you can also put your afm into your intercoooler piping if you want to tidy up the intake area

The car will start fine and idle fine (mine did) but you can't rev past 2000rpm.

mine idles crap with the afm unplugged, revs alright, then breaks down at prob about 2000rpm mine does have a cam though, maybe thats why meh

yes cars with cams are amazing things On mine too it will start fine (and idleok) even though my cam has the usual turbo setting with some overlap. Its quite entertaining for the kids to rev it up when there is no AFMand have it go gah gah ! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Do I understand this correctly, you are looking to move the AFM just for the sound ? AFM = Air Flow Meter, it tells the computer exactly how much air the engine needs, so the computer can decide how much fuel to inject... AFM has thin platignum wires, it is delicate so dont clamp it to anything that vibrates etc...

You'll know it's not good, when you start loosing a large amount of fuel, and blowing an incredible amount of smoke out of your exhaust. Happened to my mate. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

ok yes, I remember the times I used a clothes peg and put cardboard on the spokes of my push bike Those times will dissappear pretty soon and you will look back on these posts with a, how can I put it, "fresh perspective" So, my suggestion is:- a. Put AFM in the correct place so that:- 1. You dont waste limited amount of fuel 2. I can have a coffee by the side of the road and not get your smell b. Get a sound synthesiser and/or mp3 player rigged up to your gear lever or boost switch, cheers Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
