Going to install my Sard fuel reg and just wanna double check which lines go where exactly. Does it hook up the same as the stock reg? The stock reg has already been taken off and the sard reg is now mounted on the brake master cylinder bracket.
I know the side port is the inlet and bottom port is the return line. But need to know what happens from the hard fuel lines to the reg to the inlet/outlet lines of the fuel rail.
Dont tell me to search as I am sick of searching and only finding debates about sards being gay, and malpassi's being gayer etc etc.
Pictures would be good... Thanks
This is the reg if ya wanna see it

Yeah I think the Wiki does need a few pics, many questions on all sorts of
things here,
Just curious though, didnt it come with instructions/labels on pipes etc ?
How much and why changing ?
Japanese instructions. No labels or directions on the reg...
And reason, will be running bosch 910 pump and about 14psi with a T4 so just wanna make sure I can bring the fuel pressure up a bit if it starts to lean out as its about the limit of the injectors...
Just guessing, I am thinking that the line from the fuel pump runs into the fuel fuel rail like normal, and then the line coming out of the fuel rail will run into the side port (horizontal/intake) on the regulator and then will run out the bottom port (verticle/return) and into the return line to the fuel tank.
The port at the top goes to inlet manifold, this is the "sense" port, so
given the type of mechanism the the bottom one would be the outlet of
the fuel rail and the right hand side horizontal is the return to tank...
But, I cant be 100% sure, I am basing this upon the way the mechanism
works, which appears identical to the VL/VLT one, ie Diaphragm in middle
did u get an ebay one? coz i got an ebay one, and it was leaking fuel out that blocked off port where the gauge usually goes. took alot of plumbers tape.
i also found these regs never hold pressure once the pump stops. where as the standard reg will hold pressure for a long time.
I've got one and I have trouble starting the car in the morning. Takes about 2 goes to start the car. This problem never happened before I got the reg. I'll get a pic of the reg and post it up tomorrow if I remember.

Any of the fittings in the middle section can recive fuel from the rail.
That single fitting at the bottom connects upto the line that the fuel flows through to return to the tank.

Yep, but is it the 'return' line of the fuel rail that goes into that horizontal port?

Thats the adjustable screw your talking about.... And yeah it was off ebay. I guess i'll find out pretty soon whether it works or not.

yeh man had the same problem, i had a pressure gauge on both factory NA reg and the sard, on priming the fuel pump both would ahve pressure, but the moment the pump stopped the sard would go down to zero psi, whereas the NA reg would hold like 30psi. i have my sard reg beside me and i cant seen to see what would cause that.

Ok that makes fitting easy for the purists out there

Ah ha, yes of course it is actually the same orientation then as the VL/VLT
but there is a typo in the service manual, Page 6C-32, has both the fuel
lines labelled as related to fuel tank ! Hope the arrows are in the right place

Heres a pic. Its not very good. But the horizontal port goes to where the arrow is.
Just adding a bit more info. The pic is realy dodgy but the arrow is pointing to the top fuel line.
Thats awesome. thanks mate...
I bought the Nissan adapter when I got the fuel reg thinking I needed it for some reason until I did a bit of research and found that the fuel regs hooked up differently on the rb30. Normally the reg will bolt up to the fuel rail, but the rb30 has outlet hoses the reg joins onto instead. Thats what confused me.
Can someone just confirm which direction the fuel runs through the rail going by the picture. Is it the top one that it runs into or out of the fuel rail?
So I need to hook the horizontal port of the fuel reg up to the top or bottom line?

Hook it to the TOP RAIL pipe,
1 Fuel from pump to BOTTOM RAIL
2 TOP RAIL to SIDE of SARD
3 BOTTOM SARD to return.

I also have one (which is back in the box that it came in ) like the others have said it looses pressure and is just so hard to start after sitting for awhile, I have also put the gauge on like theVLguy and had the same result.
The only reason I got it was my std reg was getting stuck on high pressure sometimes.

Actually, since its (mostly) symmetrical in that the fuel rail has a pipe at each end and the direction of flow isnt that important however, it makes more sense that
the outlet of the fuel rail to regulator be the higher of the two so any vapour
which occurs during heat soak is the first to be exited when the pressure comes
back on but, for consistency sake with all the other ones out there the
outlet of fuel rail to regulator is the top one
