need to find which speedo sender I can use for my R31 when using the Mx7. Can I use the Vl item? Heard rumours about a navara unit that works as well. This is the only issue thats holding me back.

The Navara unit works as a replacement for the VL one I think.

The one in the pic above will work in the R33 & MX7 which also is the Navara one(have one in mine) the VL na one wont fit. The original R33 was electric, so that may have been what they meant. Mine had a cable drive out of a R32 but the gear was bigger and would have put the speedo out, but it was still the same unit in the pic, just the gear was bigger. The only thing you have to make sure of is the size of the drive gear so your speedo is right, most likely the same, (someone else confirm this).

r31 local made models were electric sender, so r33 item should be dime a dozen and work a treat. if its import r31 they are cable drive speedo like vls are.

The only thing i'm not sure on is calibration???

so you can get them from nissan. cos i need one, does anyone know the part number and exactly what they call it? also does anyone know where you can get the right angle adaptor

Well look back up to the pic, part number and name, "pinion assembly" is on the box, 32702-02G17 and yes you can get it from nissan. On the R33 box using an auto speedo cable is all thats needed, and I think the MX7 speedo drive looks to be in the same place so the right angle adapter shouldn't be needed.

Picked up my MX7 speedo sender... $44.30 it was.... I could not get it to fit into the R33 box though. It was getting stuck on the circled bit of the sender in the picture... Did anyone else have this issue? How do I go about it? I tried giving those bits a light sanding to take off any odd bits but still didnt help. I measured the R33 sender and the MX7 sender at the same spot with verniers and they seem about the same. It hasnt got the tab on the side to screw it to the box, so how has everyone managed to get it to stay?
