Hey fellas i have a mate who is looking at buying a half done project now the car in question "vl calais" has been resprayed and the guy has lost the vin tags and compliance plates but says the vin number is stamped into the strut tower and he has the old rego papers that match that vin number and the engine that is in it now which is out of a previous vl he has owned. Now a few questions i have are?? 1)Is there any other numbers on the car that i should be looking for too make sure this is the car the rego papers say it is apaprt from the strut tower? 2)do you have to go too and rta station too be issued with police plates?? 3)What is the process of getting a car like this registered without goin too and rta station as they will rape his ass for all the other things done too it turbo after market ecu ect ect?? I hope there is some people who can shed some light on this matter. Thanks in advance. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Your telling me man lol then the guy had a little winge at my mate saying he was stuffing around because my mate was not sure what too do.The guy should have it advertised that it has no vin tags ect so people don't waist there ****ing time. There is too many ****s who **** around on the for sale section of calais turbo! If you have details such as no vin tags you think you would ****ing advertise the fact that they are not there.

Yes im aware of this but The thing is too register it without tags you have too take it too and rta station so they can inspect it which is ok if the car is granny spec but the minute they see a 35/40 with a big plenum you will get raped up the ass!!!!!

it should have a line through the centre of the vin and a new number stamped on the firewall or strut tower from memory. Make sure the rego papers match the ENGINE NUMBER as well as the new number, that is your main concern.

The car has not been registered since it he has lost the vin plates so none of this has been done. Its been out of rego for a year but he has the previous rego papers for the shell and the engine which is out of his old vl but all this means nothing because the car will have too be dead stock too pass the rta inspection too get the police plates. One big **** around !!!!!

i wouldn't touch it in that case. Tell him if he gets it rego'd you will add $1000 to the price, otherwise no go. Make it his problem, it doesn't have to be yours. If he is truely confident it will be registerable then he won't mind- also make sure he doesn't get the slip done on the dodgey.

Buying a car with no tags is buying another persons problem. Stay away from it man

If you buy it, and the police/rta work out its a stolen vehicle they can seize it, sell it and you could end up going to jail for possesion/recieving stolen goods... Stay far far away, nobody looses tags...

my car has no compliance plates because it was stolen and recovered before i bought it (checks out legit at vic roads). All the RTA need is the VIN on the strut tower and the engine number. Sounds dodgy though, only reason they would go missing is if it was stolen recovered etc which is okay as long as its documented. And yeah i had to take my car down there, id try and make it look reasonably stock if i were you.

Get the VIN number from the Strut tower and ring the RTA and find out for sure

Yeah like the time I went to look at this VL, had the letters BT1 stamped into the plate, looked like it had been done by hand. Did a VIN Check ended up being a Non-Turbo Converted to Turbo, White sprayed Yellow Berlina with Calais Interior selling as an original BT1. Just stay away from it Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
