If there is a local auto oriented TAFE then it might be worth it as a project for the class, then its next to nothing. Mine did that many years ago, long crack in cam tunnel not easy to repair but if its a water gallery failure due to corrosion then its easy to fix but you need the tools to take the head off and a bit of mechanical experience is helpful plus a few tricks of the trade. Worth doing it yourself to learn a lot and can also clean off the carbon deposits on the pistons and inspect their movement in the bores- if you have time its worth it for experience if its not a daily driver - mostly labour anyway and most of that is step by step easy - procedure detailled in service manual edit: typos Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

over heated it recently?? head mite be warped and need machining -bout $50 - $60 head takes bout 1 - 2 hours to take off, fairly straight forward, but dont forget to use a torque wrench wen u put it back together! lol.do it yrself and save sum money, i always do mine, only pay 4 the parts, gasket, oil, coolant etc costs me under $200 including head machining. just follow the ol gregorys if u get stuck.. or ask on here...

yeah had a crack along the cam tunnel from the very back to the first tunnel circle thing. now some one told me the n/a heads are the same you just need to put the cam and rockers in them to make them a turbo head is this true

yep, but just get an N/A head and bolt it on dont bother swapping the cam over, unless you got an after market big sucker
