if its white smoke and its blowing after your backing off thats turbo on its way or youve done the turbo, but if its black while booting it thats normal due to it runs rich, but your best option is to take your car to one of the sponsors on this site, bresciani, rajab to be sure.

Is anyone else missing that white smoke can also be valve stem seals too?

I suppose it depends on thickness and duration of the smoke. It sucks when you see a turbo completley die in the arse. THen its just a traaaaaaail of thick whiite smoke..zomg its a sad sight

i got this problem now on my new turbo, wen i back off from boost, but theres no sign of oil in the dump outlet on the turbo, ive read it can be a trans modulator or something?

check the auto tans modulator, as i had this happen and i pulled off the turbo and tryed another one = same smoke, pulled off the head and replaced the valve steam seals. put the pos back together and it was still smoking, checked the line to the vac modulator and it was full of transmission oil and that was the problem. so check the modulator first!!!

I'm thinking turbo seal possibly, its definately white/grey and was blowing a ****load at high rpm when I saw you on Princess Hwy tonight near Chapel St in a red VX. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
