Like the title says ... I want to put a SB Chev into my VL .. I have had a quick look through the forms for some info and would like any input from people who have done this conversion. I am chasing a sump as well as engine mounts ... extractors would be nice but I have -10 Brodix with spread port exhausts.I will probably have to notch the firewall to fit in the SuperMag... like I said any input to save time and money would help. This will be a drag use only......Thanks... Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

If youre looking to save time and money... why the hell wouldnt you just drop a 355 in. You would have the meanest '55 for less than what it would cost to do the chev conversion! Chevs dont go nicely into VLs. Drop a 308 in and stroker kit. Holden stroker is also legal in a VL whereas the chev isnt.

Ditto that two89... with some of the 3am junkie prices getting around for holden V8 parts.... gone are the days of getting your ass reamed to build a stout holden motor..... Not that Im opposed to Chev's cos I'm a bowtie man through and through....but why stuff around? LS series motors on the other hand are a different conversation.... Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

true, the way things are set up on the chev are all around the wrong way to suit a commodore, oil filter is in the way, starter is on the drivers side, drivers side bank sits back and the passanger side bank suit forward, whers a holden its the other way around. Fitting kits are avalible, custom mounts, starter and oil filter reloaction etc, extractors.

The reason I am wanting to put the Chev in is because I have a complete 350 sitting out of our old altered and I also have a VL with no enginge in after the Willowbank guys filled it with Dry Chem ....small fire ... the RB30/25 has been refreshed but I want to sell it all off ...mircotec ,trans braked trimatic ect. The SB chev has all the **** ..tunnel ram with Meth bug catcher ,super mag 3,Brodix heads ,alloy rods ... its very stout. Thats why guys ...

I guess you'd be making it a race car only and are no longer worried about street use? if so make up a mid motor plate and custom headers.... then you need only to swap the starter to the other side..

Yeah ..drag use only now ..I need to find a sump or make one up.... The starter motor is a problem ,very tight on the rack ...if I switch it to the otherside then I guess I'll have to remote mount the oil filter... any ideas would help... or if anyone has done it PM me .

High energy would probably make a sump up to suit, i forgot the name of the place, but they do fitting kits to suit a chev into a commodore. running a engine plate would make things easyer.
