hey guys! im new to this, so here goes...i have a 12'' audiobahn sub with 1100max/550 rms but im not sure wat amp to get that can suffiently power this thing it runs a single voice coil at 4ohm operation , i also want something of decent value (nuthin cheapo) so any suggestions would be great. Also im tossing up between a 2 channel or monoblock amp cos i wanna hook up a set of 6.5'' to the amp, but again still not sure?? Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

if you wanna run a sub and speakers off the 1 amp then you will need to get a 4ch.. aslong as the sub is getting about 500w or 200-300 RMS it will go off. just bridge the 2 rear channels to 1 channel then run speakers of the front 2 channels.

even if you want to have 2 subs you can run a monoblock because they are 2 channel.. just make sure you try and get as equal as possible of you rms output in the amp and the subs..

I'm assuming you bridged the 2 channels for the sub? What was it rated at bridged? There's not much point getting a massively rated sub and a small amp. When the amp maxes out, it "clips" the signal to the sub which kills them quick smart. If you ran the sub off just the 1 channel with 380 watts/rms, thats probably why it died. You're better off getting an amp rated higher than the sub.

It's too small i reckon. Hard to say for sure that this caused the sub to die, but if you are constantly playing it at or above the point of distortion then fair chance that is the problem.

yea i probly was playing it at the point of distortion cos my installer warned me against this, but i dont kno wat the point of distortion is, the sub still sounded good wen it was turned up.
